Why Your Next Holiday Should Be Positano, Italy 🇮🇹

This small article describes why I personally love Positano, and all the wonderful things it entails.

The amazing view from La Tagliata

Positano can only be described as one of the most beautiful cliffside villages in the world. It’s on Southern Italy’s Amalfi Coast and is so remarkable for so many reasons.

I’ve personally been to Positano a few times, one of the first being my parents' wedding. Even being such a young age, I already appreciated the beauty and natural visuals the village provided. The phenomenal views vary throughout the cliffside and every inch is a sight for sore eyes. My parents' wedding was on an open terrace which looked over the deep blue ocean surrounding Positano and the wonderful and traditional homes below. It was romantic, radiant, and couldn’t have been more perfect. Ten years later, both still happily married, we returned to Positano to celebrate their ten year wedding anniversary. I, being ten years older, had the chance to completely appreciate the beauty and true delicacy of the village. It was, as expected, Just as gorgeous as we left it.

I decided I would explore this time, as the last time I went I was as good as on a leash due to my age, and wanted to see every aspect of what this place had to offer. I found a little hidden beach and incredible cliff top walks, I walked along the sea front and down through the village from the top where I found sweet little market stalls all the way down selling divine items of clothing and hand made Italian pottery. As I walked down, I was surrounded by stunning vines and flowers that happily sat there as the world went by around them. They weren’t damaged or picked, people left them to be admired, which they were.

We ate in various restaurants, all which provided food to the best quality and the most friendly people to serve us. Some of the restaurants are run by families so everything follows family recipes such as the most exquisite limoncello I have ever tasted. Dangerous if you ask me! One of these restaurants is called La Tagliata. It was a shock to the system to be greeted by a lovely Italian man playing his guitar and singing to us, on, again, one of Italy’s most sightly terraces (as seen in the picture above). We felt so lucky to be with these hardworking, family oriented Italians. They made the holiday so special for all of us, especially my parents. We sang songs and played instruments all night long and I can only wish it wouldn’t gone on longer. I’ve absolutely fallen involve with this traditional, Italian village and would have to say is my favourite place on the planet. It isn’t ruined by tourism and displays the true beauty we may sometimes take for granted here on Earth.

Why should YOU go, you ask? If I haven’t sold it already, then keep reading. Positano’s beach front is full of comfy sun beds on which you can lie on, sun bathe, relax, eat ice cream, whatever you do on holidays! Nothing is really more than a walk away and it doesn’t stop when the sun goes down either. For all you party animals, Positano has its own party right on the beach! Now, when I first came, I wasn’t sure what this place was as I was only ten so clubbing wasn’t even a thing in my mind, but the last time I went I didn’t put it to waste! Right on the beach front there is what can only be described as a converted cave which has the most inviting fluorescent blue lights oozing out of it. Inside is the most amazing club/bar, selling cocktails, modern music playing and balloons that filled the ceiling. We met so many people from all over the world who had all come to Positano because you can’t complete a lifetime without it! This crazy but wonderful place is called Music on the Rocks and sets clubbing to a completely new standard.

Undoubtedly, If you haven’t noticed already, I love Positano. I’d recommend it to anyone I’d meet as I feel if a ten year old can appreciate how delicate and precious this small yet so full of life village this is, then everyone and anyone needs to see it. I hope one day I also get married on an open terrace in the centre of this little taste of heaven on earth.
