Where Have I Been Hiding
Coominya Farm Stay

As so many of my readers know I left Brisbane on 1 November 2024 to travel this beautiful country of mine.
But firstly, I needed to wind down and de-stress so I booked a park at Coominya Farm Stay for two weeks and the property did not disappoint.
I was looking for peace and quiet, open space, silence and decompression from the every day stress of living in a city for the past 13 years — the last 8 of those years listening to the train blow its horn outside my bedroom window every fifteen minutes as it sped towards the city.
I desperately needed a time out and I found it!
Coominya Farm Stay is all that I was looking for and more.

I got the peace and quiet I so desperately craved and I also found, as a bonus, a place to park my caravan. A large grassy, flat and level, paddock with a dam at one end.
Where better than to sit on a grassy knell overlooking the dam, dew wetting my rear end, cup of tea in hand at 5am each morning, while watching the ducks, Australasian Grebe’s with babies and listening to the frogs croak after Mother Nature cleansed us with her rain?

Pure heaven.
As a new property for campers, there are still ongoing work in progress, so this property is only going to get better as it ages as a camping site.
Campers have the full use of the camp kitchen, with toaster and kettle inclusive. The kettle was an absolute blessing to my stay.

The portable toilets are clean and well maintained and just prior to my leaving, the outdoor shower was completed. Housed in a tent like structure with gas hot water, who wouldn’t want to test it out.
I found that during the week I had the paddock and facilities to myself, with most campers coming for the weekends.

It was on my last week that I decided to test out the shower, and I have to admit, I thoroughly enjoyed the freedom of showering in the outdoors. I’m glad I took the opportunity because it’s those small simple things that made my stay pure magic.
Coominya Farm Stay was everything I needed it to be and more and I couldn’t recommend this property highly enough.

Situated in southeast Queensland, this property is out of the way of human civilisation, while being close enough to visit Wivanhoe Dam, Atkinson Dam and plenty of small pretty towns that coexist in the vicinity.

On top of the perfection I experienced camping in this big beautiful paddock, I also had the pleasure of connecting with the delightful host, Lynn.
As a new caravaner and this being my first time hooking up to water and grey water, Lynn did her utmost to help me iron out any newbie kinks to make my stay as comfortable as possible.
I’m truly honoured to find that I come away with a new friend.
So, for those who are looking for beautiful place to stay, away from the hustle and bustle of society, give Lynn a call at Coominya Farm Stay — I promise you won’t regret it.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.

So happy you had such a wonderful stay. Also, may I know what is grey water? 😅😅
