What Makes the Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya a Must-Visit?

Palm Avenues and double coconut palms

One of the most striking varieties of palms that you would encounter in the gardens is the amazing double coconut palms. This species is considered to feature the biggest seeds to be found in the botanical world. Weighing up to 30 kg, these coconuts take about five years to develop fully and are a sight to behold.

Cacti and Plant Houses 

You would find the Cacti and Plant Houses situated facing one another in proximity to the entrance. At the Plant House, you will find African violets, ferns, begonias and more. Meanwhile, the Cacti House offers an absorbing sight as well with numerous varieties of this plant displaying different shapes and patterns.
