It was a crisp morning in Dharamkot when I set out on one of the most thrilling adventures of my life—the Triund trek from Dharamkot. Nestled in the heart of Himachal Pradesh, this charming little village served as the perfect starting point for my trek. As I sipped on a hot cup of chai and looked at the distant snow-capped peaks, excitement coursed through me. The journey ahead promised breathtaking landscapes, winding trails, and the serenity of the Himalayas.

The trek began with a gradual ascent through thick pine forests and rhododendron trees. Unlike starting from Mcleodganj, the trek from Dharamkot felt more peaceful, with fewer crowds and a stronger connection to nature. Each step brought a new scenic delight, from quaint cafés to mesmerizing valley views. Little did I know that the real magic awaited me at the summit.

Best Time for the Triund Trek from Dharamkot

Timing is key to enjoying the Triund trek to its fullest. Here’s what each season offers:

March to June: Pleasant weather and clear skies make this the best time for trekking.

September to November: The post-monsoon greenery adds a fresh charm to the landscape.

December to February: Snow-laden trails create a winter wonderland, but trekking can be challenging.

We chose mid-April for our trek, ensuring a comfortable climb with stunning panoramic views.

The Trekking Route and Experience

The Triund trek from Dharamkot is roughly 7 km long, making it slightly shorter than the route from Mcleodganj.

The first stretch takes you through thick deodar forests, where the chirping of birds and the scent of pine trees create a tranquil atmosphere. We made a quick stop at Magic View Café, one of the oldest cafés on the route, offering spectacular views and warm refreshments.

The final 2 km were the most demanding, with steep climbs that tested our endurance. But as we reached the top, all exhaustion faded away. The sight of the Dhauladhar range against the vast open meadows was simply breathtaking. We sat in awe, soaking in the beauty of the majestic Himalaya

Camping at Triund: A Night Under the Stars

Spending a night at Triund top was an experience like no other. As the sun set, the sky turned into a canvas of pinks and oranges, eventually revealing a blanket of stars. The cool mountain air and the distant sound of wind rustling through the valley made the moment truly magical.

Tents and sleeping bags are available for rent at the top, making it convenient for trekkers to stay overnight. The sunrise the next morning was equally mesmerizing, with golden hues painting the snow-capped peaks.
