The winds of sorrows

A sad story of a lost girl

By Mai LePublished 3 years ago 3 min read

Once upon a time, there was a young cat named Jocelyn. She was a curious and adventurous child, always exploring the world around her. She loved nothing more than wandering through the forests and fields near her home, discovering new sights and sounds. Joce had a tendency to run from home to play, but she would often forget to come back home.

One day, Jocelyn decided to venture deeper into the nearby woods than she ever had before. She was so excited to see what lie ahead that she didn't realize how far she had gone until the sun started to set. She played with bugs, the grass, the birds, the squirrels, the ferrets, all sorts of animals you could think of. Suddenly, she realized that she was lost. She tried retracing her steps, but the more she walked, the more disoriented she became. She could only hear the silence of the birds, the songs of the crickets, the sounds of the forest night.

As the darkness enveloped her, Jocelyn grew increasingly scared. A small cat, all alone in the middle of the dark forest that is no longer playful anymore. She tried calling out for help, but no one answered. No one but the taunting sounds from the crickets and cicadas. She curled up under a tree and cried herself to sleep, hoping that someone would find her in the morning. She regretted going so far into the woods, so far from home, so far from reality.

But nobody came for her. It was like nobody cared. When Jocelyn woke up, she was still lost. She was hungry, thirsty, and cold. She hadn't learned to hunt, she didn't like to kill. As her parents used to call her "a human's toy". She didn't know what to do or where to go. She felt utterly alone, with no one to turn to. She didn't want to play with her forest friends. She lost them during the night.

As she wandered aimlessly through the forest, she noticed something strange. The wind was blowing in a different direction than it had been before. She paused and let it envelop her, feeling the chill of it on her skin.

Was it a sign? She thought.

As she embraced the wind, she felt a strange sense of comfort. It was as if the wind was wrapping her in a protective embrace, shielding her from the fear and uncertainty that surrounded her. Jocelyn slowly didn't feel scared, she felt alive again. But not the type of alive you feel when you want to play with friends. It was a feeling of motivation to find her way home.

Jocelyn began to follow the wind, letting it guide her through the forest. As she walked, she felt her traumas and fears start to melt away. The wind was carrying them away, leaving her feeling lighter and freer. The further she left the forest, the more sensations of relief she felt. The sadness, the anger, the regret, the shame she felt were disappearing one by one.

As the day wore on, Jocelyn followed the wind for hours. She never stopped to rest or eat, but she wasn't tired or hungry anymore. Something inside her had shifted, and she felt more alive than she ever had before.

Finally, as the sun began to set, Jocelyn emerged from the forest. She was on the edge of a cliff, overlooking a vast expanse of fields and valleys. The wind was stronger now, whipping her hair across her face. Jocelyn closed her eyes and let it wash over her, feeling it cleanse her of all her worries and troubles.

When she opened her eyes again, Jocelyn knew what she had to do. She breathed deeply and stepped off the cliff, letting the wind carry her away.
