The 5 Places I’ve Never Visited But Want To

My wish list

By Rosalyn Published 4 years ago 4 min read

My trips I’ve taken over the years have been wonderful, and I always say that I’ve done Europe quite well. For most of my trips it often ends up being a last-minute thing because you see I can be at an airport in less than an hour. I can travel to most European countries with ease. Asia, North America, Africa are not places I’ve seen, but I have travelled to those continents, just not in great detail. I write a lot about why a place is wonderful and my trips I have taken, and why you should go there, but what about the places I want to go and the reasons that it attracts me so much, so here I thought I would compile a list of places I want to go.

The first on my list is a place that I had booked to go and see in May 2020, but we all know why that didn’t happen, right? So, for as long as I can remember I have always wanted to go to Nashville, there is another US city up there, but Nashville is a place I wanted to see. So, while I was living in the states I booked a trip, was going to see several shows, visit many museums and experience country music like it should be heard. I know it is not exotic or even full of culture that much different than mine, but this is a place I’ve wanted to go to for years and as I get older this is still a place that I crave to see. I will get there one day and it will be everything I hope because I know what I’m getting from Nashville and that is music.

The next one is something that probably appears on a lot of peoples lists, and honestly, I don’t even know where the interest for this country came from, but it has always been there. I know many people will see this a think this is an overrated place, but honestly, I don’t care. This place is Machu Picchu, there is something about it that draws me to it, something that seems so wonderful and so peaceful and if I ever found myself in Peru this would be one of the places I would need to see, I would of course also make a trip to Lake Titicaca because the view of the milky way gives the impression of living in a dream. I suppose the next thing on my list isn’t such a place, but a whole country because as well as Machu Picchu or Lake Titicaca there is also the Canopy Walk, which brushes The Amazon and The Sacred Valley. This is why it just has to be on my list.

The third thing is Egypt, out of everything on my list there is a reason why I haven’t been to Egypt which is more than just, oh I haven’t found time. I’ve taken a choice not to go to this country and that is for one reason, the Anti-LGBT laws that lie in the country. This is something I feel rather strongly about, and I do not wish to travel to a country where although I pass as straight, I do not want to be there if there is a chance for me to be discriminated against for who I love. Egypt is a place I long to go to, but there are 72 countries where being gay is illegal, several others that still have anti-gay laws on the books. I want to see the Pyramids, the Temples, and take a trip down the Nile. I want to do that, but I will not let my morals be corrupted by my thirst for travel.

For more information about this subject, I recommend following this website Erasing 76 Crimes, this is one of my favourite websites because it highlights such an important subject and has reported on the few countries that have overturned their laws.

The fourth would be Japan, one of the reasons this country interests me is mainly because of the contrast, Tokyo is certainly a city I would love to see, it’s modern, new and exciting, but equally, Japan has so much history, so much culture. It has some of the world oldest stories known around the world, and this is something I wish to experience. From the Shuri Castle to the Kinkaku-Ji to the Todai-Ji, there are just so many wondrous stories to uncover here and I just want to see this country in its glory whenever that maybe.

And lastly would be New Zealand, with this list I’ve tried to cover what I look for when I travel and this last place covers one gap, my love for movies. While there are thousands of film locations across Europe and I’ve been to plenty in the UK, one of the countries which have a strong tie to the Hollywood blockbusters is New Zealand, most notably known for the Lord of the Rings trilogy and something which I have a massive soft spot for the Chronicles of Narnia. I wouldn’t take a normal trip just to look at scenery because that is something that bores me, the idea of taking hiking for a view doesn’t exactly warm my heart, but I would see those views if they have some sort of story to tell. Places like Flock Hill, Cathedral Cove, Lake Pukaki and Paradise are beautiful places but I wouldn’t go without the connection to some of my favourite films.

Special mention to New York, but I did spend three hours at the airport once.

So now we reach the end, I know this list might cause a few people to roll their eyes, but this is my list. I like to see world history, I like to hear of the stories of old, and I want to see as many magical cities and countries as I can see.
