Usually the Sar Pass Trek takes about five or six days beginning from Kasol a small town with rich culture. Here is a complete itinerary designed by experts which will help you plan your trip effectively.

Day 1: Arrival at Kasol

Altitude: 1,580 meters (5,180 feet)

For many people who goes for Sar Pass Trail, they find themselves settling in this place known as “Mini Israel of India”. Do not exhaust yourself when you get here instead save energy exploring places such as the nearby café, and enjoy the entire day. Please be sure to get used to the new environment before you start.

Day 2: Kasol to Grahan Village

Altitude: 2,347 meters (7,700 feet)

Trekking Distance: 9 km (5-6 hours)

The trek starts with a gradual climb through pine forests along the Grahan Nalah. The trail is marked and offers stunning views of Parvati Valley. Located among wooden homes which are typical for mountain villages, friendly people reside in Grahan Village. Stay overnight in tents or homestays.

Day 3: Grahan Village to Min Thach

Altitude: 3,400 meters (11,154 feet)

Trekking Distance: 7 km (5-6 hours)

This hike takes place across thick forests with increasing slope as you go up. You will pass by beautiful landscapes including meadows and streams on your way to Min Thach. It is an alpine meadow that gives an incredible view of mountains all around it.

Day 4: Min Thach to Nagaru

Altitude: 3,800 meters (12,467 feet)

Trekking Distance: 8 km (5-6 hours)

This is a difficult path from Min Thach leading towards Nagaru via snowline ascent. Sar pass and Tosh valley offer great panoramic views along the trail; this is why it’s important not to miss them during your one-time experience there. Nagaru is just a tiny camping site where you may experience extreme temperature drops at nightfall so have enough warm clothes with you.

Day 5: Trek Nagaru to Sar Pass then Biskeri Thach

Altitude: Sar Pass- 4,200 meters (13,780 feet): Biskeri Thach- 3,350 meters (10,990 feet)

Trekking Distance: 14 km (7-8 hours)

This is the most exciting day of trek. You start early in the morning to go across Sar Pass which entails negotiating deep snows. The climb up to the pass is arduous but the 360-degree views from the top are worth it. After crossing the pass you descend towards Biskeri Thach that’s a beautiful meadow surrounded by snow-capped peaks. This is a long and tiring day so take it easy.

Day 6: Biskeri Thach to Barshaini then Kasol

Altitude: 2,040 meters (6,692 feet)

Trekking Distance: 10 km (5-6 hours)

On the last day of your trek you will be descending through thick woods and meadows. The path provides incredible sceneries of Parvati Valley as well as neighboring mountains. When you reach Barshaini you can either return back to Kasol by road or otherwise continue exploring this region.

What should I carry on a Sar Pass Trek?
