Put a Smile on Your Face! Better Times are Ahead for All of Us!

There are so many kind souls here in Costa Rica. In the midst of a very bad year, a strong feeling of hope and the laser-focused vision of a better life ahead are in the minds of the masses. This is a fact!

As you must realize, when something bad happens, then goodness is usually right around the corner. "There's light at the end of the tunnel". . a phrase that has been uttered millions of times to get us through the bad stretches that we have all experienced.

Remember the ''good ole' days''? Do you realize how wonderful we had it? No restrictions. . no masks. . no gloom. . no despair. A thriving economy. . happy faces. . festivals & Sunday morning farmers markets. . hot Costa Rican coffee & pleasant, meaningful conversation. . Musicians in the streets and all of us were tapping our toes and singing along! The rhythm of the day seemed to carry us along, worry free, until tomorrow arrived. And we did it once again. A different song perhaps, but the good vibrations never stopped.

WHO EVER THOUGHT that 2020 and 2021 were going to be so challenging? What did we all do to deserve this? Many people sitting at home with no work. . losing their homes. . not being able to pay their rent or utility bills. . giving up their dreams that they have worked so hard for. . lost loved ones and friends who succumbed to Hell's wrath. . otherwise known as, "COVID-19".

I believe that life is full of checks and balances. For every bad moment, there's a better time coming. For every "no way", there's a "yes, there is"! The circle of life never stops.

Today is November 18th, 2020. Only 44 days until 2021. January 1st. It can't get here too soon, can it? A new birth. . new hopes and dreams. I understand that it's just another day (it lands on a Friday, by the way). But internally, we have to make it special. In all of our minds, this HAS TO BE the day where we can put everything behind us and start the heck over! We have no choice. It's all about the mindset. Belief. Positive vibes. OH, happy days!

The reason I bring all of this up today is that the "Pura Vida" Lifestyle that you hear so much about. . that Costa Rica is so famous for, minimizes all of the "bad" in YOUR world. It transcends hate, fear, despair, woe & worry. There are absolutely, without a doubt, no negatives in the World of Pura Vida. When we finally realize that the key to our happiness is simply linking together a bunch of days that have gone right for us, we will have stumbled upon the secret.

Life, nature, the higher force. . whatever you wish to call it, does NOT ALLOW us to enjoy a perfect life. There's too many moving parts, aren't there? So many terrible things that happen in life are way beyond our control.

I submit to you that what we CAN control is TODAY. "Pura Vida" means enjoying TODAY. Not tomorrow. . tomorrow never arrives. Because tomorrow is not for certain in our lives. We want to think that there will be many carefree, low-stress, totally-perfect, days. . weeks. . months. . years ahead of us. And there will be. But our mindset needs to be HERE, right now. What can we do today to guarantee our happiness and well being? Today is so important because it is indeed the first day of the rest of your life! It is the doorway that leads into the future. Cherish today. . respect it. . treat it as your best friend. How many times have you uttered to yourself, "Wow, I've had a pretty good week!"? Now, THAT is an accomplishment, isn't it? Something to be proud of. A good week is simply a collection of 7 wonderful days. . please keep that in mind. And, this is the basis of how "PURA VIDA" came about. . day by day. . one more checkmark in the 'good day' column!
