Ninh Binh Vietnam

Hey there, fellow travelers! It's Darpita Sharma, and I just had the most wonderful adventure in Vietnam. I want to share my journey with you, starting from the moment I decided to explore the beautiful heritage city of Ninh Binh. So, let's dive right in!

About a week ago, I found myself yearning for a new travel experience. With a little research and a stroke of luck, I managed to snag some amazingly cheap flights with Vietjet Air from India to Vietnam. The excitement was overwhelming! I could not believe that in just a few days, I would be stepping foot into a whole new world.

My first stop was Hanoi, the vibrant capital of Vietnam. Although I had only one night to explore, I made sure to make the most of it. The bustling streets, the tantalizing aroma of street food, and the stunning architecture took my breath away. I wandered through the Old Quarter, where each corner seemed to unveil a new surprise. Hanoi's rich history and culture left me yearning for more.

The next morning, I hopped on a local Bus from Hanoi to Ninh Binh, eager to unravel the treasures of this heritage city. As the bus chugged along, I gazed out the window, mesmerized by the picturesque landscapes of Vietnam's countryside. Rolling hills, lush green fields, and majestic limestone karsts surrounded me, creating a sense of serenity that I had been craving. If travelling solo from Hanoi to Ninh Binh, the best option is to take the public bus. Buses frequently travel the route and take around 2 hours to get to Ninh Binh town. Tickets range from 80-100K VND depending on the bus company. Buses drop off near the main bus station in Ninh Binh, which is within walking distance of many hotels and restaurants. From the station, it's easy to get transportation like xe om (motorbike taxis) to visit nearby attractions like Tam Coc or Hoa Lu.

As I arrived in Ninh Binh, I was immediately captivated by its timeless beauty. The city is known for its stunning natural landscapes, ancient temples, and historic sites. One of the must-visit locations is Trang An Landscape Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This place is a paradise of limestone cliffs, emerald-green rivers, and mysterious caves. I took a boat tour, gliding through the waterways and marvelling at the breathtaking scenery.

Another highlight of Ninh Binh is the famous Tam Coc, often referred to as "Halong Bay on land." I rented a bicycle and pedalled my way through the countryside, passing by rice fields and small villages. The boat ride along the Ngo Dong River was a true delight, as I witnessed the towering limestone formations and the rhythmic rowing of local women with their conical hats.

One of the hidden gems that I discovered was the Bai Dinh Pagoda, the largest complex of Buddhist temples in Vietnam. The sheer grandeur of the pagoda left me in awe. The intricate designs, the tranquil ambiance, and the panoramic views from the top were simply mesmerizing.

While planning my trip, I stumbled upon a travel content creator named Shanshank who shared an honest review of all the places to visit in Ninh Binh. His video was informative and gave me a deeper insight into the city's hidden gems. If you are interested, you can find his video here:

To fully experience all that Ninh Binh has to offer, it's best to spend at least one night there rather than taking a rushed day trip from Hanoi. The stunning rice paddies and limestone mountains are best explored slowly and independently rather than on a group schedule. Staying overnight allows time to watch the breathtaking sunset over the countryside or ride a bike among the scenic rural lanes. It also means having the flexibility to wake early and visit places like Bai Dinh Pagoda without a time crunch. An overnight stay enhances the opportunity to unwind and appreciate the charming town.

In conclusion, my journey to Ninh Binh was nothing short of magical. The natural beauty, the rich heritage, and the warm hospitality of the locals made it an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend adding Ninh Binh to your travel bucket list, as it offers a unique blend of history, culture, and awe-inspiring landscapes. So, pack your bags, embrace the spirit of adventure, and get ready to create your beautiful memories in Ninh Binh!
