Pensacola, Florida is my hometown located on the upper most western part of Florida. The western part of Florida is called the “Panhandle” because it is directly above the Gulf of Mexico. Pensacola is home to the rich, white sand beaches. I grew up there the past 10 years of my life due to the fact that my parents were in military (Navy), and they decided to retire there. Pensacola houses many Navy pilots who fly the marvelous Blue Angels jets. Each and every year, the Blue Angels perform over Pensacola Beach to show the community how fast and in synch they can be while in the air. It is completely mind blowing. They fly very fast and loud breaking the speed of sound.

Pensacola beaches are absolutely beautiful. The water is crystal clear only in the early mornings because ships stir up the ocean bottom and make the pollution travel to the shore. Many people do not know that. Some beaches along the coast are clear while others can attract more pollution. The sunrise and sunsets are absolutely breath taking.

While many tourists tend to come during the summer, I personally like to sit out at the beach during the winter season because not many people are out there. Tourist do not come during the winter or cold season. The beach is usually filled with locals or people taking wedding and family pictures. Watching the beach water during the winter is very calming. The water is freezing during this time, and I not recommend even putting your feet in. During the winter, I like to go to the beach in the afternoon around 5:00pm and stay there until the sun sets around 6:30pm. Some days, I am able to see the sun and moon out at the same time, and it reminds me that I am not alone and that someone created me and the Universe.

During the summer, I love going to beach, however; I am not a fan of the crowds and the never-ending parking spaces that are always filled up. Parking on the beach during the summer is a pain in the rear end. Sometimes it makes me just want to give up experiencing the beach water and go home. I usually go to Perdido Beach because they have free parking and access to the beach. Many beach areas, such Pensacola Beach, charge a toll in order to enter. Summertime is where people from all over come down to visit. Of course, there are locals, but there are more people from out of town trying to soak up all of the breezy air. I tend to stay away from the beach during the summer season; however, I do know a few quiet spots to go to, away from the tourist. I love how the sun hits my body. I do not experience sun burns because of my melanin, however; I do wear sunscreen. The sun can be dehydrating along with the salty beach water. The beaches have many water sports such as jet skiing and parasailing. They even offer dolphin tours and give people access to rent out boats.

The beaches of Pensacola are such a special place to me for many reasons. I always feel spiritually connected when I go the beach and relax. The sun is the main reason why I believe in God. Without the sun, the earth would not light up nor have energy to grow plants and food. When the sun beams across the water it is just the most indescribable beauty you can image. It is like the water sparkles and twinkles. Only after a storm is it the best time to walk along the beach to collect sand dollars and seashells. I always bring my mother home bags and bags of shells in which we make cute crafts with. The beach is never a terrible place to go unless you hate saltwater. The beach currents can be very dangerous, and every year people get killed because the currents drags them out into the ocean. Many tourists do not take safety precautions when going to the beach, and it is sad to see the amount of lives lost due to stupidity.

I love my hometown Pensacola primarily because of the beach. I highly recommend checking them out for yourself. The beaches have plenty of restaurants where they serve fresh and local seafood.
