If time is brief , fitness a priority , and you are feeling the necessity perhaps to check the waters before committing to a more arduous trek through the Himalayas, then Langtang Valley Trek is for you. Not only does the trek offer a journey of reasonably moderate effort through a scenically dramatic alpine region well worth visiting in its title , but it also has the additional advantage of being very accessible from Kathmandu, minimizing travel and days wasted for those that want to focus their limited time on trekking, instead of onerous bus or jeep rides.

The Langtang Valley Trek was long a popular area for hiking and ranked only behind Everest and Annapurna in terms of recognition . The tragic 2015 earthquake had a devastating economic effect on the community, with many forced to go away , yet within the intervening years many have come, the tea houses are rebuilt anew, and life has slowly returned to something resembling the past, though tourism to the world has yet to approach earlier figures. Visitors choosing to form the journey will thus not only be ready to avail themselves of 1 of Nepal’s most beautiful treks within the same manner as before, but can help support the wonderfully welcome and hospitable Tamang people of Langtang Valley as they plan to rebuild their livelihoods within the wake of the earthquake. You can hike up to Kyanjin Ri (4773m) or Cherko Ri (4984m) which offers a stunning panoramic views of the valley and surrounding mountains from the top.

You can also combine Gosaikunda Lake trek with Langtang Valley Trek. Gosaikunda Lake is a sacred lake for Hindu and Buddhist Pilgrims and carries a great religious values. Gosaikunda lake trek generally takes 4-5 days. So, trekkers generally cover Langtang and Gosaikunda trek.

Patan is one of 3 royal cities in the Kathmandu Valley, it’s filled with wood and stone carvings, metal statues, ornate architecture, including dozens of Buddhist and Hindu temples, and over 1200 monuments. Our last stop for the day is the Buddhist temple Swambhnath, mobbed by monkeys and soaring above the city on a hilltop, the ‘Monkey Temple’ is a fascinating, chaotic jumble of Buddhist and Hindu iconography.
