A yacht cruise in Bali is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure that will leave you with unforgettable memories. Not only does it promise luxury, but you’ll have an opportunity to see some amazing sights. The beautiful coastlines, cultural heritage and marine life make it an experience not to be missed. If you’re sailing for the first time, there are a few things to keep in mind. We’ll also take a look at the top attractions you’ll see along the way:

What to Pack: Clothing and Gear

Make sure to pack enough lightweight clothing. Since Bali has a tropical climate, you can expect warm weather all year-round. This calls for light, breathable fabrics when it comes to swimsuits, shorts, t-shirts, and sundresses. The sun is especially strong during the day. To protect yourself from the glare, take a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses with UV protection, and plenty of sunscreen. When it comes to footwear, pack comfy flip-flops or sandals to wear on the yacht. Waterproof shoes and sturdy sandals can be worn when you’re exploring the coral reefs or rocky coasts.

If you’re planning on going snorkelling, consider taking your own equipment. However, many charter services like Vela do provide equipment. Take a waterproof bag to keep your electronics and valuables dry when you’re on the beach, and to protect them from splashes. Don't forget your camera, preferably a waterproof one! It will allow you to capture photos of the scenery, marine life and other fun moments. Pack toiletries, medication, and a small first aid kit as well.

Attractions and Activities

Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan

Nusa Penida is a must-visit destination if you're going on a luxury cruise in Indonesia. This beautiful island is well-known for its amazing beaches, and you can experience some of the best snorkelling and diving here. Top attractions to see include Crystal Bay, Kelingking Beach - which has a cliff resembling a T-Rex, and Manta Point - a top diving location where you can observe graceful manta rays.

The smaller islands of Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan  are located close to Nusa Penida, and are equally picturesque. Must-see spots here include the mangrove forests, which you can explore on a kayak or paddleboard. At Devil's Tear, you can watch the waves crash against the cliffs, and Blue Lagoon is an amazing spot for swimming.

Gili Islands and Menjangan Island

The Gili Islands (Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air) are known for their abundant sea turtles. They can be easily spotted if you go snorkelling. Taste fresh seafood at one of the many beachside restaurants, and end your day with a great view of the sunset from Gili Trawangan.

Menjangan Island is located in northwest Bali, and is part of the West Bali National Park. View the beautiful coral gardens here when you go snorkelling or diving. They are home to colourful corals and various marine species. You’ll also see an unusual sight with eels swaying in the current. Don’t miss exploring the island's underwater caves and canyons!

Experience the culture

Your trip to Bali wouldn’t be complete without experiencing its rich culture. On your yacht cruise, you’ll be able to make stops at many of these locations. Bali has many eye-catching temples, such as Tanah Lot, Uluwatu, and Besakih. Many of these can be reached by boat or a short inland trip. Also, visit the local markets to buy souvenirs, taste the local food, and observe the daily lives of the Balinese people.

Tips for a smooth cruise

If you reserve your place on the yacht ahead of time, you’ll have a smoother experience on board and not run into too many issues at the last minute. Wherever you go, stay hydrated and drink lots of water. Always practice responsible tourism and be mindful of Bali's ecosystems. Avoid touching corals or disturbing the marine life.
