How to Make the Most of Singapore's Nightlife
Seeking out the interesting places and things of Singapore
Although Singapore is certainly a convenience for most who travel there - with many places to shop and many things within such stores, the Lion City has shed its reputation of the global retail hub that it once was, currently enhancing its reputation of a prime nighttime destination. With internationally-known nightclubs and the emergence of several new rooftop bars, the nocturnal activities of Singapore have expanded beyond expectation - par for the course of one of the most interesting destinations of the world.
Clarke Quay
A boulevard of bright colours and beautiful surroundings, the Clarke Quay is a favourite amongst locals and foreigners both, set around a body of water and lined with banks of swanky restaurants, and stylish bars, as the CBD skyline stretches across the background. Here is where the conversation for dusky drinks begins, and the presence of clubs like Attica and Zirca makes it lively enough to spend more than a few hours dancing the night away.
Rooftop Bars
As mentioned earlier, rooftop bars are flourishing amongst the Singaporean populace. Much like its ASEAN neighbours, the reason for this is the opportunity to take in the immaculate Singaporean skyline and city sights as you drink a delicious cocktail (or three!) Check out such bars as 1-Altitude for a club-ish atmosphere, or LeVel33 for a craft brewery amongst breweries. If you'd like a bit more of a unique place to go, try out Kinki, a place beloved by sushi connoisseurs.
Orchard Road
A place renowned - although not for nightlife, but for its malls. However, this only remains true as long as the sun stays up, for when it sets, the atmosphere changes. Out come the animals to play after dark, transforming the area from one of shopping, to one of energy and life. As the shops close up, the bars open, the lounges rise, and even the occasional club makes its presence known. Make sure to stop by the nearby Emerald Hill Road as well, to check out the more unique offerings of the area.
Holland Village
Another area that rears its hidden head after dark, Holland Village remains (relatively) out of the way, with a dedicated crowd of expatriates, and locals. Revealing its lively inner facets after the sunset, you'll be able to find interesting alfresco restaurants and quirky bars, and even a street party, if you're lucky! This area remains a reasonable distance from your choice of Singapore boutique hotel, including but not limited to such brands like the Value Hotel SG.
The Gardens by the Bay
Proof that all of Singapore's nightlife doesn't have to involve alcohol, the Gardens by the Bay are just as stunning in the night as they are by day. This futuristic botanical wonder, with its towering supertrees, could even be said to be more wondrous at night - who needs luxury restaurants and rooftop champagnes when you have such impressive structures as these to gaze upon?
Zouk
We now draw your attention to a specific place - rather than a district - as this place deserves its own mention. A venue of legend in its own right, the award-winning club known as Zouk has been the epitome of the nightlife scene in Singapore, having hosted international stars of the likes of David Guetta, Tiesto, and The Chemical Brothers. Zouk is actually 3 interconnected places with 3 stages, with a dynamic, ever-shifting experience as well as diverse music offerings. For those whom it may matter, the crowds that attend this place are also lively and energetic, hopping to and from each club to each the varied music within.
