Alexandria, Egypt

The central location of Alexandria is one of the main reasons it has played a significant role in history even before Alexander the Great founded the city in 331 BC. Before its time the location of the city, being on the Egyptian Nile Delta made it a popular location. It was also known as a location rich in intellectual property as it was home to the library that held the biggest number of scrolls but unfortunately, it was later burned down in a fire that was started by Julius Caesar. Apart from the library and the scrolls Alexandria also gave birth to a renowned philosopher, Eratosthenes who was the first to find that the world is a sphere and not flat.
