Koh Samui is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Thailand, with tourists from around the world flocking to enjoy a relaxing holiday on the island’s many scenic beaches. Additionally, it features several other natural attractions like lakes, coves and lagoons in nearby islets. However, hidden deep within its jungles are some of the most breathtaking waterfalls that speak to nature’s majestic beauty. If you are a true nature lover looking for a series of waterfall adventures, here’s how you can explore the best of Koh Samui’s waterfalls.

Enjoy a 2-in-1 Experience at Na Muang

Na Muang is a pair of waterfalls located southeast of Nathon Bay. Na Muang 1 is the first of the waterfalls that you’ll reach that features a cooling natural pool that you can dip in at its base. You can then embark on a 30-minute hike to reach the second waterfall, Na Muang 2 which is surrounded by more rock formations that give you plenty of vantage points from which to enjoy the cascading waters. If you’re up for a bonus adventure, you can visit the nearby Namuang Safari Park or embark on an elephant trekking tour in the vicinity.

Take a Quick Hike to Hin Lad

Hin Lad is the second-largest waterfall in Koh Samui and one of the most visited due to the breathtaking viewpoints that visitors encounter on their hike there. Featuring freshwater pools and nearby food stalls, as well as the Hin Lad Buddhist Temple, spending a morning excursion at Hin Lad is one of the more exciting things to do in Chaweng

Enjoy a Retreat at Tar Nim

Unlike the rest of Koh Samui’s waterfalls, Tar Nim is a man-made waterfall that is smaller in size but abounds in beauty. It is also surrounded by a beautiful Buddhist garden that is perfect for a relaxing retreat with the gentle sounds of the waterfall running through it. Located just a 40-minute drive from Avani Chaweng Samui Hotel & Beach Club, a visit to Tar Nim is perfect if you’re looking for picture-perfect sceneries combined with a tranquil atmosphere.

Discover a Secret Waterfall

The jungles of Samui also feature the Secret Falls, the 3rd largest waterfall on the island that gets its name from its remote location. Reaching the site requires both driving and hiking on foot, making it a true jungle adventure on its own. However, at the end of your journey, you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the waterfall that falls into a natural pool in which you can enjoy a refreshing dip. The waterfall is also surrounded by plenty of shade from the towering trees making it a great spot to cool down after a long journey.

Visit Khao Yai and its Beautiful Statue

The Khao Yai waterfall is best accessible in a 4x4 vehicle due to the steep winding roads that lead to it. However, the waterfall itself is far from precarious with plenty of lush greenery and a set of carved steps that guide you to the very top of the waterfall. It also features a large beautiful statue and a place where devotees can offer flowers to the Buddha.

Enjoy a Fish Spa Massage at Siva Tara

Located just behind the Lamai Post Office, the Siva Tara waterfall is rather small but there’s plenty to enjoy at the site. In addition to climbing to the very top of the waterfall, you can also hike over to the nearby observation deck from where you can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding land in Koh Samui. If you’re up for it, you can also enjoy the unique experience of a fish spa massage in a nearby pool.
