Hello and welcome, lovely readers!

I’m so happy to have you here as we begin Part 1 of my Seychelles travel series — a dreamy escape into one of the world’s most stunning island destinations.

If you’ve ever caught yourself daydreaming about white-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and a slower pace of life where island time takes over… then you’re going to love what’s coming.

In this series, I’ll be sharing my personal journey through Seychelles — the sights, the flavors, the people, and all the little moments that make this tropical paradise so unforgettable. Whether you’re planning your own trip or just here for a virtual escape, I promise to bring the islands to you, one post at a time.

So let’s begin this adventure together — and trust me, Part 1 is just the start of something truly magical.

Ready to explore paradise? Let’s dive in! 🌊

When I first set my sights on Seychelles, I imagined turquoise waters, palm-lined shores, and days spent basking in the sun. But what I didn’t realize until I started planning was that timing your visit just right makes all the difference in experiencing this island paradise to the fullest.

If you’ve been dreaming of a Seychelles getaway, let me help you figure out the best time to go based on weather, events, and some personal travel tips I picked up along the way.

Understanding Seychelles’ Tropical Climate

Seychelles enjoys a warm tropical climate year-round, which is honestly part of its magic. The temperatures typically range between 24°C to 32°C (75°F to 90°F). But while it’s always beach weather, there are two main trade wind seasons that shape the island's rhythm:

Northwest Monsoon (December to March)

This season is warm and humid with occasional short bursts of rain. It’s not the wettest season, but you’ll see more clouds and humidity. The sea is usually calm, which makes it a good time for swimming and island hopping.

Southeast Monsoon (May to September)

Cooler, drier, and windier—perfect for sailing and enjoying the outdoors. However, the stronger winds may stir up the seas on some coasts, especially the southeastern sides.

In between, you’ll find the transitional months: April, October, and November. These are my personal favorites, and I’ll explain why.

Best Months to Visit Seychelles

April and May – Calm, Clear, and Beautiful

April is a gem. It’s the shoulder season, just after the rainy months, and it delivers beautifully clear skies, calm waters, and lush greenery. If you’re into snorkeling or diving like me, April and May offer great underwater visibility and less crowded beaches.

Plus, the sea is generally glassy and flat—a dream for kayaking around tiny coves and uninhabited islets.

October and November – Dive into Paradise

These months are another sweet spot between the two wind patterns. The ocean is calm again, which makes it ideal for underwater activities. I went diving off Praslin in November, and the coral reefs were alive with color and activity.

Also, the temperatures aren’t too hot, and the days are long enough to explore without rushing.

June to September – Cooler & Windier

If you prefer breezy days and a break from intense heat, this is your window. Hiking through Morne Seychellois National Park or visiting Anse Lazio during this time is refreshing and scenic.

The only downside? The southeast coastlines can be a bit rough due to the winds, which sometimes affects water clarity. But trust me, there’s still plenty of magic to uncover.

December to March – Green and Humid

This season has the highest chance of rainfall, but showers tend to be short-lived and followed by sunshine. December and January are popular months for tourists—especially during the holidays.

I visited in January once and while it was more humid, the greenery was absolutely glowing, and the beaches felt extra tranquil after a morning drizzle.

Events and Festivals in Seychelles

One thing I love about Seychelles is that it’s not just about beaches—it’s a cultural mix of African, French, and Creole influences. If you time your visit with a local festival, it adds a deeper layer to the experience.

Seychelles Carnival (April)

Victoria, the capital, bursts into music, dance, and colorful parades from around the world.

Festival Kreol (October)

This week-long cultural event celebrates Creole heritage through food, music, and performances. It’s a beautiful time to explore the islands and their traditions.

Subios Festival (November)

If you’re into marine life, this underwater film and image festival is a fun way to learn more about Seychelles' biodiversity.

Travel Tips for Visiting Seychelles

From my experience, a few tips can go a long way:

  • Book flights and accommodations early if you're visiting in peak seasons (December or August).
  • Bug spray is a must, especially after rain—those little guys love the humidity.
  • Pack light, breathable clothing, but bring a light jacket or wrap for evenings.
  • Don’t over-plan—some of the best experiences here happen when you slow down and let the islands surprise you.

Ready to Plan Your Seychelles Escape?

Seychelles has something to offer in every season—it all comes down to what kind of experience you’re after. Whether you want sunny beach days, romantic sunsets, underwater adventures, or cultural immersion, this tropical paradise truly delivers.
