Crack the </code> for... Flying.
Get the most of your time in the sky.

The way to guarantee a successful flight begins before you even leave for the airport. Not all flying is equal, but there is a way to make the best out of any flight you take, an emergency flight bag. In your emergency flight bag, there are some essentials you will need. Those essentials include a water bottle, joggers, a neck pillow, headphones, and a book.
The first thing you'll need is an EMPTY reusable water bottle. It helps you avoid paying a lot of money on a simple water bottle after going through security. To go with your water bottle, a bag of snacks to help cut down the high price tag on the other side of the metal detector.
It is imperative that you are as comfy as possible on your flight. Clothing is a HUGE part of that. Most airplanes are similar to the temperature of the inside of a refrigerator. The best way to face the frigid interior is to wear warm yet loose layers. I always wear joggers on flights. Joggers allow you to not only look good but also feel warm and cozy.
If sleeping if your plan for your flight, or if you are a nap fanatic, then you are going to need to go CLICHE with the travel neck pillow. They don't have to be the old ones your mom used on your family road trips. Many new kinds and styles have flooded the market. Some pillows even have massage or heat options. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, some pillows you can even cuddle. The materials have even changed and evolved. Neck pillows come in memory foam or some are inflatable! Do some browsing to find the right neck pillow for you.
My personal favorite in my emergency flight bag is my over-the-ear headphones. Over-the-ear is better than earbuds because it isn't going to cause any problems with pressure during take-off and landing. Anything noise canceling is even better. It helps silence the noisy baby on the plane or just quiets the hum of people talking on the flight. It can even add to the in-flight experience by listening to music, a movie, a guided meditation, or a soundscape.
You are going to need a device to go along with those headphones. I prefer to use my iPad while on a plane, instead of my phone. You tend to get way less glares during takeoff if you are using an iPad instead of your cell phone. It allows me to listen to music and play games with a larger screen for the odd-shaped close quarters of coach. An iPad case equipped with a stand is a great way to watch a movie of your choice. You could even use Bluetooth to connect a video game controller and play games while you are in the sky. It is crucial that you have games that do not require an internet connection. Downloading games, music, and any other media you might want to use on your flight should be a part of your travel prep routine.
If you are an old school traveler, a book is an absolute must. I bring a book even when I have my iPad. It helps if your eyes need a rest from the light of a screen or if your device's battery is running low. Reading a book is also a great way to get yourself settled into being on the plane before your in-flight nap.
If you take the time to create your very own personalized emergency flight bag you will set yourself up for success. Have a safe flight and happy travels.
