I understand. Travelling solo is not always easy and people will look at you strange when you make one person reservation but you do not feel awkward about it, because you are used to it and you enjoy your own company. Rooftops are always a good shout when travelling solo. Why? Places like rooftop bars, restaurants and pools are smaller and it is easier to make some new connections with people, plus majority of the time you can just take a lift up and walk in. We cannot forget about the amazing views you get and those shots you can take for the gram!

Hence, now let me introduce you to the best rooftop places you should visit when in Lisbon. I actually would love to read it myself before my trip as it could save me some time but I just used Google Maps at first to search for some nice spot and ending up at TOPO bar (described later).

1. SUD Lisbon for the pool

The pool area at SUD Lisbon

This rooftop is probably one of the best I have ever been to! Although you need to make a reservation and pay in advance (not compulsory), you can spend all day from 10 am to 6 pm and relax. You have the option to get to the pool area with a table reservation for 50 euros or 80 euros with a reserved sunbed, towels, snacks, small lunch, unlimited access to water, and a glass of champagne. Please be aware that you might need to buy additional food as the portions are rather small. Nevertheless, you are in a luxurious place with a really good service. If you prefer not to spend that much or do not plan to stay there all day, you can just get upstairs (not to the pool area) where you can have a drink on the terrace.

2. Sky Lounge for the bar

The Sky Lounge bar

The rooftop bar is directly connected to the SEEN restaurant which is a bit upstairs; hence, if you wish you can have a dinner before getting to a bar. The whole place has a beautiful, modern and stylish decor with designed bar that serves its own signature cocktails. I recommend French Kiss or Lightini for those with a sweet tooth. The views are spectacular and you can mingle with others at the bar. You do not need a reservation for the bar but you need one for the SEEN restaurant.

3. TOPO Martim Moniz for the atmosphere

TOPO Rooftop bar

TOPO was actually my first stop in Lisbon while I was wandering around waiting to check-in at my hotel. As always, I wanted to get to some rooftop but as it was early my options were limited. While searching Google Maps, I came across TOPO that opened at 12:30 and was close by. It is really a walking distance from the main attractions and streets in the city. I got myself a refreshing drink (meaning Aperol Spritz) and had a great conversation with a bartender (I wish to mention her name here but I completely forgot!). She suggested all the other places I have been to during my stay and was a real help in terms of going to a SUD Lisboa rooftop. I need to mention here that there is many places with rooftop pools but these are not available to public and you actually need to stay at those hotels with a range of 100-250 euro a night.

Getting back to TOPO, it is a cool place with great views over the castle. If you get there late afternoon please be aware that it can be rather busy especially during the weekend. Nevertheless, I will highly suggest visitng TOPO as it is full of nice people and other travellers, so if you travelling solo yourself - this is your spot!
