Acadia National Park
Worth the visit...even in a downpour...
I'll start by saying that, of course, my day of exploring Acadia National Park was rainy, muddy, and still somehow stunning! We didn't see much wildlife, just a few scampering squirrels and busy birds. But the wonderful scenery as we drove through the park (mostly in the hopes it would stop raining long enough for us to adventure out of the car) was well worth the drive.
Who is this we I speak of? I was in Maine celebrating my dad's birthday with him and my mom. So me (30F) and 60+ year old parents weren't getting out to go exploring in a downpour. However, at each of the parking lots and overlooks we stopped at, there were plenty of people out and about, so clearly always worth the trip if you're an avid outdoorsy person who won't let the rain stop you.
Despite the rain, we spent a good two hours in the park enjoying the scenery, the overlooks, and of course the gift shop. Because did you even really visit somewhere without a magnet to commemorate it?
Even if hiking isn't really your thing, there's still plenty to do in the beautiful acreage of Acadia's vast wilderness. Enjoying the scenery, stopping for a delicious seafood lunch, traipsing through one of the numerous museums in the area, or even just spending a relaxing weekend at a local Airbnb. These options are all well worth the visit to this vast wilderness of Maine.
