Meow Wolf in Santa Fe

By Stacy PeacockPublished 5 years ago 3 min read

Let's just all come to terms that 2020 has been a total nightmare. I am a traveler. I love my visits back to my home state of California, which is currently in the middle of a COVID bomb. I can't go home to see my family, because they are prime candidates for COVID. Covid is like, "Hey, let's go check out Stacy's dad. He's got a ton of health issues, he would be a perfect place to put up shop."

I love and miss my girls trips to Santa Fe and Austin. I haven't been on a girls trip since March of 2018. So let's kick 2020 to the curb and talk about Santa Fe. There are so many wonderful things to do in Santa Fe, but I'm only going to focus on the one for now. The one is, Meow Wolf. While Meow Wolf is currently closed, once this COVID nightmare is over, I highly recommend visiting it. It's like you're high on magic mushrooms, without having to actually take the mushrooms.

Welcome to Bermuda

This guy is waiting for you at the Bermuda portal.
You want out of the portal? Open the refrigerator.

I have been to Meow Wolf many times. The beauty of it is, that it changes. It's build and created by artists from all walks of life. They have inspiring rooms, hallways, hidden doors, there's even a room you can try and hack to get into a safe that's there. You can walk into a refrigerator and end up at a portal in Bermuda. I just took a peek at the website and there is all new things I have never seen before. It is literally a virtual experience that is mind blowing.

Be careful. You're being watched.

There are some rooms in there that I never, ever want to leave, and some I do. At times it can be mentally over stimulating, but don't worry. There are hidden doors that can lead you into rooms that no one has found yet.

Ahhhhh...a calming room

Even the hubby likes the dance room

There are times that I've gone into the same room repeatedly and asked myself, how did I not see this the last time I was here? A hidden door in the comic book room. What? For instance the cake room. That one was new.

Let them eat cake! If only we could actually eat it.
Here's my daughter and my niece trying to crack the codes

There are codes and clues all over the house. The family is in the house. You can see their pictures, check their files to try and crack the safe code, take over the computer looking for clues. You can go into their bedrooms. I eventually found a secret door in one of the closets.

I'm not going to tell you which bedroom it's in, you're going to have to find that yourself.

The beauty of it is, the artists change things. So something you may have seen before is no longer there, and something you may have seen before now has a new element to it. It's never boring, and it's never the same. It is truly a work of artistic genius. Don't forget to check out the fire place. Once you go through it, you get to play music on a Woolly Mammoth's rib cage.

Woolly Mammoth musical ribs

Not everything is black and white.

There is so much beauty here.

My only advice is, once Meow Wolf reopens, go on a weekday and go early. There are lines out the door. They only allow a certain number of people in at the same time. Also getting there first helps cut down on the foot traffic. This way you are not overwhelmed by the amount of people in this amazing house. I have never seen anything like this is my life. They are now popping up in different cities, but this one. This one is the original work of art. You won't be disappointed. One more thing, don't forget to check the mail on your way in.

There are letters you can read in there.

Have fun! Santa Fe is a great town to go visit. Every time I go, I find something new.
