10 Unforgettable Things To Do In China (That Took My Breath Away)

A Journey Beyond Expectations

From ancient wonders to natural marvels, China was unlike any trip I’d taken before. What struck me wasn’t just the scale of things — though yes, everything is massive — it was the diversity. One moment I was staring in awe at skyscrapers, the next I was floating on a bamboo raft beneath towering karst mountains. These are the moments that left a lasting mark — some world-famous, others personal surprises — but each one unforgettable.

✨ 1. Walk The Great Wall of China in Beijing

Each step I climbed made me excited to get the top at Jinshanling, and I still didn’t want it to end when I got there — the views just kept getting better.

✨ 2. Marvel At The Forbidden City In Beijing

As I wandered through its grand halls, it hit me: this was once the centre of the world’s largest empire.

✨ 3. Enjoy The Bund Shanghai Skyline

I stood between two eras — colonial buildings behind me, neon-lit towers across the water — and it was electric.

✨ 4. Be Blown Away By The Terracotta Warriors in Xian

Seeing the emperor's army frozen in clay, each soldier unique, was eerie and mesmerizing in the best way.

✨ 5. Stroll Around Hangzhou’s Historic West Lake

As the mist drifted over the lake, I got a sense of why emperors and poets kept returning here.

✨ 6. Visit The Giant Pandas at Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding

I spent half a morning just watching them roll, nap, and eat. No regrets.

✨ 7. Relax In The Classical Gardens of Suzhou

Every twist of the path, every rock or bridge, felt like walking through ancient China.

✨ 8. Watch The Yangshuo Impression Liu Sanjie Water Show

I’d never seen a performance where the cast, music, and natural landscape backdrop felt so in sync — utterly mesmerizing.

✨ 9. Go On A Hike At Tiger Leaping Gorge In Yunnan

Walking alongside that roaring river made me feel small — and totally alive.

✨ 10. See The Majestic Wuyi Mountains

Floating down Nine-Bend Stream under ancient cliffs was one of the most peaceful hours of my trip.
