Speaking about why she didn't speak openly about her waiting journey until after the babies were born, Ify said:

IFY MOGEKWU: Personally, I did not feel like sitting down to chit chat about it because it wasn't something I expected. I just felt like everyone was watching. I couldn't even celebrate my wedding anniversaries, maybe I did it once or twice, and then I stopped. Because I felt like people were counting, and people aren't very kind. After the first year, I guess as a married woman, the only time you get off is maybe after the first year. By the second year, everybody is wondering what's up? So I stopped celebrating my anniversary online cuz I didn't want people to start counting year one, year two, year three. Everyone knew that she's been married for a couple of years and we haven't seen kids, so everyone knew what I was going through without me saying it.

When asked what the 9 year wait period was like for her and how she was able to face it, Ify revealed saying:

IFY MOGEKWU: It wasn't the best at all, and you know one thing that really messes with you during the waiting period is you have no idea. You know something, if somebody comes to tell you after 7 years, after 8 years...but you have no clue! None. I remember my husband and I in the first year, we said we'd just chill. Then by the second year when we started trying, we were like ah ah, wait a minute, is it not supposed to be very easy? I think by the third year is when I started saying omo, I don't know what's going on here o because it didn't look like it was happening. It was really really hard. And then you now see people online talking when a woman gives birth after 20 years. I remember one particular one that somebody said "those of you who have given birth easily, you don't know what God has done for you. God loves you guys so much." And I said wow! God really hates me. What have I done? It wasn't even directed at me, it was the comment section of another page, and I wept. I wept! Like, what have I done to be put in this position? The waiting period was hard. It was hard!
