When You're Hot, You're Hot!
We're powering through the summer as July is coming to a close. The world is getting ready for the Olympic Games, but until then let's check out four more ladies who have thrilled sports fans in their respective locations. Here's yet another salute to body positivity and athletic excellence.
Peyton Funderburk
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Peyton Funderburk had a solid freshman year at Southern University. She earned her first win at the McNeese State #2 meet in Lake Charles, Louisiana, which took place in January. Funderburk placed first in the long jump at 5.80 meters and second in the triple jump at 11.47 meters. She closed her indoor season with a top five finish in the long jump at the SWAC Indoor Championships, at 5.65 meters. Funderburk got her first outdoor win with her season's best long jump mark at 5.90 meters at the Pelican Relays on her home track in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in April. At the SWAC Outdoor Championships, Funderburke scored for Southern with a top eight finish to end her first collegiate season.
Desirae Roberts
Like, Funderburke, Desirae Roberts also competes in the SWAC. A native of Missouri City, Texas, she is a hurdler at Texas Southern University. Roberts was able to snag medals in her first collegiate season while competing in the preliminary rounds of the 60-meter hurdles and 200 meters. Roberts earned a bronze medal in the 1600-meter relay with teammates Avia Trammell, Shelby Brooks and Bayli George. When outdoor season arrived, Roberts shined in the 400-meter hurdles winning in the season opening meet, the McNeese Cowboy Relays in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Two meets later Roberts recorded a top five finish in the 400-meter hurdles at the conference outdoor meet. She collected another bronze medal in the 1600-meter relay this time with Brooks, George and Tardranique London.
Katriina Wright
An All-American sprinter at Oregon, Katriina Wright is also an international sensation. She has represented Finland the last two years at the Under 20 World Championships. This year, Wright became a Pac-12 champion in the 1600-meter relay with Shana Grebo, Ella Clayton and Shaniya Hall as they helped Oregon win the overall team championship as well. Wright earned First Team All-America honors in that event during the indoor and outdoor seasons. She was also a First Team All-American during the 2023 outdoor season. In 2022, Wright won a bronze medal at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the distance medley relay.
Angel Gazaway
A year after the greatest time in her collegiate career, let's take a second to remember the championship season of Eastern Michigan's Angel Gazaway. After seasons of toiling away in the Mid-American Conference and finishing outside of the top three in championship finals, 2023 was the year where Gazaway made things different. After making an extreme change to her physique and a deeper commitment to fitness, Gazaway went on to win her first conference gold. At the 2023 Mid-American Indoor Championships, Gazaway appeared in her fourth straight 60-meter hurdles final. She'd never placed higher than sixth from 2020 to 2022. In her final chance she grabbed the gold medal with a career best time of 8.41 seconds. The Cincinnati, Ohio native went on to dominate the outdoor conference meet, taking championships in the 100-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles and 1,600-meter relay. She finished her collegiate career with her first and only appearance at the east regional meet in the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles.

Germany Downplays US Threat to Greenland
Introduction Recent comments about the United States and Greenland have drawn international attention, especially in Europe. Reports suggesting that the US could threaten or pressure Greenland have raised concerns among NATO allies and Arctic nations. In response, Germany’s Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul has moved to calm the situation. He has clearly stated that Germany does not see a serious or immediate threat from the United States toward Greenland and has urged allies to focus on cooperation rather than speculation.

Recapping an Amazing Night for the Knockouts on Impact's AMC Premiere
The broadcast history of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling has always been quite interesting. TNA started in 2002, but it wasn't until 2004 that they had an actual TV deal. I remember their days on Fox Sports Net, but it was in the fall of 2005 that TNA moved to what was then known as Spike TV, moving there just days after the network aired WWE's Raw program for the final time. It was around that time that I started watching TNA, and they were on Spike for nine years. After that, it was years of being on a lot of different channels. Destination America and Pop, two channels that no one would know without TNA. It's similar to how TruTV airs the earliest March Madness games. I still remember the brief time when they were on Twitch in 2019, but that ended that fall when they moved to AXS TV.
