Exercise Or Not

Sitting all of the time can make you rot

Okay, so sitting probably doesn’t make you rot! I was told that once though. Sitting too much can make you rot. At least get up every half an hour. You spend too much time just sitting! So, I got up and went into the kitchen. I just came back with tru fru. Dark chocolate-covered frozen cherries.

A serving of chocolate-covered frozen cherries is 3–4 pieces and I always have 4! I had breakfast and it is an hour later and the cherries are a snack. The other breaks I take are to walk to the bathroom. Not far.

To exercise is the question or not

it is good for you and you will not rot

if you exercise, you will feel better

Some say not so much in their letter

Text is really how they wrote

it just wouldn’t rhyme in the quote.

Before I broke my arm, I was walking 60–70 minutes a day on the treadmill. I want credit for that forever!

That was 3 years ago now. I don’t go outside to walk or hang out as I live in farm country, where roundup is sprayed on the fields 2–3 times a season. The cancer I had nine years ago is lymphoma and some people have sued roundup for their lymphoma cancer. I have not.

Last year I had surgery and this year I had surgery. They say you will recuperate in about 6 weeks. While on medication for pain, please stay off the treadmill.

If that were the case, I would only have to stay off for a few weeks, as I stop the medication as soon as possible. But I’m drained and can’t get beyond 5 minutes. Some days I can’t do 5 minutes. Okay, the doc says, older people sometimes take longer.

So, she was calling me old!

The next part is to get back into the habit. I start with 5 minutes the first week, 10 the second and move up to 15, then 20 minutes. I haven’t gotten any further in the past few surgeries and another problem comes up.

Walking is good for me

I do feel that and see

the difference in my outlook

and in my physical look

****

I do feel good

As good as getting out of the hood

Then the excuses come in and anyhoo

I have so much work to do

****

I’m too tired

I’m wired

I’m out of shape

Let me just listen to this tape,

and the list goes on and on!

I asked a therapist; can you help me with this. He said, “No, probably not. What happens is when you don’t meet the goals you will stop coming back as you will get embarrassed or fire me as I am not helping.”

Okay, you are right, I said. How can I argue with that logic!

My husband says it is laziness, procrastination, and too tough, I want the easier, softer way. I don’t prioritize. It doesn’t help for him to coach me as that probably only has me digging in my heels. Making it worse, as he does what he can to be annoying and to help his dear wife whether she wants his help or not.

He parks furthest from the doors as he can get away with! Then he says, “Exercise comes first, anything else comes later, as it is a matter of life and breath!”

How can I be the most comfortable in my body that I have ever been and be so out of shape and weigh this much? Diabetes, cancer on the back burner, addiction, AFIB, all diet, exercise, and stress-related.

Cortisol is my belly fat. Did I just give up? No, why would I put this out there if I had? I will walk today! I like the prioritization of exercise for life and breath.

And, I need to be in better shape to ride my motorcycle. I know this as I have been on it now a couple of times this month!
