Dear You:
This letter is to you, the women on this planet. To women who are brave to smile, to dream, and to tear. To you, the women that inspire, are not afraid to work hard and be the best woman that you can become. To all you women that are brave enough to change to who you want to become. All of you that are not afraid to sweat, get dirty, and love fashion and beauty. To those women that feel empty but still have the courage to laugh, smile, and shine. Dear women in my life, the strangers, and newly acquainted, thank you for being you.
Dear you, you are amazing. Don’t forget to breathe as you power your way through work. This letter is to remind you that no matter how you feel, you are doing great. As you hike up that hill and feel like you are weak, you are not. Those shoes have walked through life, earning that trophy of dirt and sweat. When you feel exhausted after a long day, feel proud of what you accomplished. Feel proud of the house you cleaned, or the garden you weeded. Feel proud of the computer you fixed, the program you helped code, and the clothes you cleaned. Feel proud for being the best mother to your beautiful family, to yourself, and to the animals you love.
Dear women, you are brave. You are brave for loving, laughing through depression, and helping with your friend’s sadness. To you, the women that help others before herself. Cooking supper, kissing a scrape, and hugging away broken hearts. To the women that help with math, science, and projects the night before they are due. To the women that listen to their partner’s grief, their goals, and stress of the day or week. Dear women, you are brave—brave for pushing forward when you are in grief. Brave for working through your stress and sadness. You are brave for being willing to help when you too, need help.
Dear you, you are beautiful. Even when you feel ugly without makeup, you are not. You are beautiful for being yourself, taking care of others before yourself. You are beautiful with your bright eyes, the glow of your skin, and the curves of your body. You are beautiful for being you. There is only one you, and that is a beautiful thing. The marks on your skin, the tiger stripes well earned make you unique and beautiful. The extra fluff around your hips and thighs, the angel kisses on your skin all make you beautiful. You are beautiful for being pure to yourself and loving openly to others. You are beautiful with those scars that tell stories of your life. You are beautiful on the inside and out.
Dear women, I don’t know you, but I know you are strong. You are strong for lacing up your boots to fight for your country. You are strong for getting on that horse to help with the ranch. You are strong for making sure the home is cleaned and loved. To the women I don’t know, you are as strong as the women in my life. You are strong like my mother with her hard-worked hands, like my grandmother who openly loved everyone. You are strong like my sister and girlfriends who went through life with a smile, regardless of if there was a hurdle to conquer. You are strong like my daughter who openly cries so she moves on from her sadness. Your strength encourages women like me to push forward through the darkness to find the light.
Dear women, thank you for being strong in this chaotic world. Thank you for being you regardless of the society you live in. Thank you for being brave to stay true to yourself, building up the shield to defend others. Thank you to all you women that educate, heal the sick and keep company to the dying. Thank you for being brave through the fog when life gets difficult.
Thank you, all of you.
