Arkansas 83 - Baylor 78

After a tight first half in which host Arkansas led 38-36, over Baylor, the 16th ranked Razorbacks outlasted the fourth ranked Baylor Bears in an upset win.

DiJonai Carrington led Baylor with 24 points but Arkansas got 23 from Amber Ramirez and 22 from Chelsea Dungee to hold off the Bears' fourth quarter comeback attempt.

Arkansas won the free-throw and turnover battle which proved to be the difference. The Razorbacks made 30-of-39 free-throws opposed to Baylor's 12-of-18. Arkansas also posted 13 turnovers and forced Baylor to give the ball away 22 times.

Saturday, Dec. 5

South Florida 67 - Mississippi State 63

In a season where upsets are becoming commonplace, South Florida is keeping the trend alive. The Bulls beat the sixth ranked team in the nation Saturday night in an overtime battle.

Here is a team that loss to number four Baylor by four points. This time South Florida didn't let its opportunity to shake up the world of college basketball slip away. Avenging a 25-point loss from last season, South Florida won behind gritty performances by guard Elisa Pinzan and forward Bethy Mununga.

Pinzan struggled with 4-14 shooting but she almost had a triple-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists. Mununga shot 2-12 but she grabbed a game high 12 rebounds to go along with eight points. Mississippi State was led in scoring by Rickea Jackson who struggled on a season low 35 percent shooting night where she shot 7-20, while surrendering a nightmare total of nine turnovers.

Houston 71 - Auburn 61

Guards Dymond Gladney and Britney Onyeje combined to shoot 8-18 from three-point territory to lead Houston (2-1) to its second victory of the season.

Houston got out to a 22-9 lead over Auburn (3-1) after the first quarter and never looked back. Auburn struggled going 2-12 from three. Gladney who drained three from long range led Houston with 18 points. The junior from Los Angeles came into the game averaging 10 points in Houston's first two games. Onyeje, also a junior, scored 15, while making five-of-nine threes.

Auburn got one of the best performances in the nation this season from senior forward Unique Thompson. The 6-3 star posted 26 points and hauled down 23 rebounds. Thompson is one of the best rebounders in school history with a career average of 10 boards per game.

While Thompson balled out, Auburn as a team struggled on offense with nine assists versus 23 turnovers. It shot 36 percent overall.

For Houston a third player scored in double digits. Junior guard Daphnee White scored 10 points, with seven rebounds one steal and a block in 13 minutes of play off of the bench. She shot 3-4 from the field and 4-4 from the free-throw line.

Indiana State 84 - Murray State 80

Caitlin Anderson posted 18 points, four steals, three rebounds and one block as she led Indiana State (2-1) past Murray State (1-2) 84-80. The sophomore guard is showing great improvement after a freshman season where she averaged 4.9 points and shot 38 percent in a reserve role. This season through three games she is shooting 48 percent and averaging 14.3 points.

The host Sycamores had a balanced scoring attack with six total players scoring 10 points or more. Senior forward Jamyra McChristine posted a season best 15 points. Sophomore reserve forward Adrian Folks scored a career best 13 points on six-of-eight shooting. She pulled down nine rebounds.

Sophomore guard Sommer Pitzer had 11 points while guards Marie Hunter amd Essy Latu scored 10 points each.

After being down 26-16 after the first quarter Murray State actually outscored Indiana State 64-58. The Racers also outshot their opponent 49 percent to 45 percent. Katelyn Young led the Murray State offense with 27 points missing only three of her 14 shot attempts. The 6-1, freshman also grabbed 12 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.
