Who Will Be the Female Inductee in the 2022 WWE Hall of Fame? (Top 5 Possible Choices)

Listing the top five likely choices for the 2022 female inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame

By Clyde E. DawkinsPublished 12 months ago 6 min read

It's WrestleMania time, and that also means that it's time for the annual WWE Hall of Fame class to be built. Each class is interesting; it always involves a headliner, a secondary headliner, a celebrity inductee, a legend outside of WWE, and of course, a female inductee. While I am always interested to see who the main headliner will be (in the case of this year, it's The Undertaker), my main concern is the female inductee. Which woman will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame? Who will join the likes of Trish Stratus, Lita, Alundra Blayze, Jacqueline, Beth Phoenix, and recent inductees Molly Holly and The Bella Twins, among others?

I had wanted Molly Holly for the last three years, and she finally got inducted in 2021. Now I find myself wondering who will be next. The way they've gone about this is a bit interesting. I figured they would go by eras; get the Attitude Era women in before working on the Ruthless Aggression Era, yet Beth Phoenix got in before a few women from the AE. They still haven't really inducted all of the key AE women yet, and there's still some from before AE who deserve inductions.

Regarding that, I just want to get this out of the way. The list contains women who will most likely get in. If I mention women who should, it would be a multi-parter. Only one woman can be inducted this year, and this list features possible choices. Here we go.

Kelly Kelly is a former Divas Champion and 24/7 Champion

5. Kelly Kelly: When WWE's ECW brand debuted on June 13, 2006, it included another debut in the form of Kelly Kelly. At only the tender age of 19, Kelly Kelly debuted as an "exhibitionist"; performing a dancing skit known as Kelly's Exposé, before becoming one-third of the group known as Extreme Exposé in 2007. It was in late 2007 that Kelly started competing in matches, with her popularity and in-ring skills improving as time went by.

2011 was a banner year for Kelly; on February 4 of that year, she became the first and only woman to successfully defend the World Heavyweight Championship, as she and then-champion Edge defeated Dolph Ziggler and LayCool in a handicap match for the title. Later that year, Kelly defeated Brie Bella to capture the WWE Divas Championship, a title she held for 3 1/2 months. Kelly had her big WrestleMania moment in 2012, when she and Maria Menounos defeated Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres at WrestleMania 28.

Kelly left WWE later in 2012, but she has since appeared in three of the five Women's Royal Rumbles, most recently in 2022, and it was on the Raw Reunion special that Kelly captured the 24/7 Championship, becoming WWE's first female champion. Those accolades are definitely Hall of Fame worthy, and we'll see if Kelly Kelly is chosen.

Michelle McCool was the first ever Divas Champion

4. Michelle McCool: A very likely choice is Michelle McCool, whose career actually started with entering WWE's first recognized Diva Search in 2004. Michelle ended up as one of the 8 finalists, and while she didn't win the contest, she ended up in WWE for seven years; quite a long tenure. Michelle's biggest accolade came at the 2008 Great American Bash, when she defeated Natalya to become WWE's first-ever Divas Champion, and would hold the title for the rest of that year.

2009 would see Michelle capture the WWE Women's Championship, becoming the first to hold both titles, and it would also see her form an alliance with Layla to form the duo known as LayCool. She would add a second Women's Championship reign in early 2010, and it was at Night of Champions that Michelle defeated then-Divas Champion Melina to unify the titles. 2011 saw LayCool split up, and Michelle ended up leaving WWE after losing a "Loser Leaves WWE" match to Layla at Extreme Rules that year, though Michelle has appeared in the 2018 and 2022 Women's Rumbles.

If Michelle gets inducted this year, she and The Undertaker will be the 2nd couple to be Hall of Famers together (Edge and Beth Phoenix are the first), but in addition, The Undertaker and Michelle will make history as the first couple to be inducted in the same year. It's why I have a feeling that Michelle McCool might get in this year.

Victoria is a two-time WWE Women's Champion

3. Victoria: The biggest surprise from the 2021 Royal Rumble was Victoria being a surprise entrant. I'll be honest, I never thought I'd see Victoria appear at a WWE event again. Not because she had no interest; the interest was there. It's just that WWE hardly mentioned Victoria in the years that passed since she left, and it's a lot of years. Victoria's overall wrestling career is immensely epic, and it happens to include nearly a decade in WWE, with her in-ring tenure beginning in 2002.

In that time, Victoria had her signature moments. At the 2002 Survivor Series, Victoria defeated Trish Stratus in a Hardcore Match to capture the Women's Championship. A year later, Victoria and Lita faced off in WWE's first ever women's steel cage match. Victoria would add a 2nd Women's Championship in 2004, and at WrestleMania 20, she successfully defended the title against Molly Holly...and later shaved Molly's head as part of the stipulation. Victoria's second and last reign ended that summer, but in the the five years that passed, Victoria continued to establish herself as one of the best and toughest women in the ring.

Victoria left WWE in 2009, and went on to a successful tenure in Impact Wrestling, where she captured the Knockouts Championship five times and the Knockouts Tag Team Championship once. Her return at the 2021 Royal Rumble was her first time in a WWE ring in 12 years, and I honestly think that Victoria's return could set up a Hall of Fame induction. Will that induction occur this year? It's possible.

Mickie James held ten Women's Championships in WWE and Impact

2. Mickie James: Even with the controversial way that her latest WWE tenure ended, there is still a possibility that Mickie James could end up in the WWE Hall of Fame this year. The accolades are there. Mickie is a six-time champion in WWE, with her first title win coming at WrestleMania 22 against Trish Stratus. In her various tenures in WWE, Mickie has feuded with the likes of Trish Stratus, Lita, Melina, Beth Phoenix, Michelle McCool, Becky Lynch, and Asuka, among others.

If you count her accolades in Impact Wrestling, Mickie is a ten-time champion. She held the WWE Women's Championship five times, the WWE Divas Championship once, and the Impact Knockouts Championship four times. Mickie even had the Impact title with her when she made her entrance in the 2022 Women's Royal Rumble, and I honestly think that the Rumble appearance could open the door for a Hall of Fame induction this year. If not this year, then within the next three years.

Melina is a five-time champion in WWE

1. Melina: I've been very patient when it comes to WWE bringing Melina back in any way shape and form. Finally, that moment came at the 2022 Royal Rumble, and I was so emotionally happy. Her time in the Rumble was brief, but I drank in every moment, and I now believe that Melina's return can set up a lot of things, most of all a Hall of Fame induction. It would be quite overdue for Melina; she started out as a manager for MNM, leading them to three reigns as WWE Tag Team Champions, and after the group split, she managed Johnny Nitro to two reigns as Intercontinental Champion.

On February 19, 2007, Melina won her first Women's Championship, and she would add a 2nd reign later that year, as well as a third in early 2009. It was in October of 2009 that Melina captured the Divas Championship, and she won the title one more time at SummerSlam in 2010. So in all, Melina had five championships as a valet, and won five of her own in the ring, so she's accounted for ten championships. I truly hope that Melina gets inducted this year, or at least in the next three years.

As I said, these are likely choices for this year's female inductee. I could write a book on women who deserve to be in overall. Miss Elizabeth, for one; she's still yet to be inducted. Bull Nakano is also deserving; one of the great wrestling villainesses of all time, as well as Alundra Blayze's greatest rival. Luna Vachon is also deserving; one of the greatest to have never become champion in WWE. And I could go on about Chyna. Yes, she's in as part of D-Generation X, but she was much, much more than that. She truly deserves a solo induction, and it's a crime that she has still yet to receive that.
