Top Scoring Players on Fantasy Football (Week 6)

Analyzing the highest scoring players, by position, during Week 6 of the 2024 season

By Clyde E. DawkinsPublished about a year ago 3 min read

We are currently in the pivotal weeks of the Fantasy Football season. Not close to playoffs yet, but Week 6 (which came and went) truly is the final week before struggling teams may have to call it a season. It's usually in this part of the season that the trade offers come in, as Fantasy trade deadlines are usually about a month away--if that.

Week 6 was quite the interesting week in Fantasy Football for sure, especially for me. I only won half of my matchups, but on the bright side, my two teams who were 1-4 both won. So that's always a silver lining. Some interesting players really showed out in Week 6, and they are as follows:

QB: Caleb Williams

Here's how fantasy scoring works for quarterbacks: 1 point per every 25 passing yards (or 0.04 points per passing yard), and passing touchdowns are 4 points each. Interceptions are usually a 1 point deduction, and lost fumbles are a 2 point deduction. The leader for QBs in Week 6 was Caleb Williams, who threw for 226 yards (9.04 points) and 4 touchdowns (16 points), but threw a pick (1 point deduction), while also running for 56 yards (5.6 points). A grand total of 29.64 points for Caleb Williams. Baker Mayfield, despite the Bucs scoring 51 points, finished a close second, mainly because he threw three interceptions.

RB: Sean Tucker

Now while Baker Mayfield didn't lead QBs in fantasy scoring, his teammate, Sean Tucker, took that mantle for RBs in Week 6. Scoring for running backs goes like this: 1 point per every 10 rushing yards, and touchdowns are 6 points each, while PPR rules apply for receiving. Tucker's numbers: 136 yards (13.6 points) and a touchdown (6 points), 3 receptions (3 points) for 56 yards (5.6 points) and a touchdown (6 points). 34.2 fantasy points for Sean Tucker. Holy cow!

WR: Chris Godwin

Another Buccaneer showed out during the team's 51-point extravaganza, and that player was none other than Chris Godwin. Scoring for WRs goes like this: PPR is applied, and most leagues award a full point per reception. Also, it's 1 point for every 10 receiving yards, and touchdowns are 6 points each. Godwin's numbers: 11 receptions (11 points), 125 yards (12.5 points), and 2 touchdowns (12 points), for a grand total of 35.5 points. Godwin ran away with the Week 6 lead for WRs; the closest total to Godwin was 24.7 points, racked up by Garrett Wilson on the Monday Night contest.

TE: Cole Kmet

Scoring for tight ends is the same as wide receivers, and for Week 6, the top scoring tight end was Cole Kmet. Doesn't surprise me; he was everywhere in that London game against the Jaguars. Kmet had 5 receptions (5 points) for 70 yards (7 points) and 2 touchdowns (12 points), totalling 24 fantasy points. This shows how strong the NFC North is this season; this marks the third straight week that an NFC North TE leads that position in scoring--it was Tucker Kraft in Weeks 4 and 5.

K: Jake Bates

Scoring for kickers goes like this: extra points are 1 point, of course. Regarding field goals, those under 40 yards are worth 3 points, 40-49 yard FGs are worth 4 points, and those 50 yards or longer are worth 5 points. Jake Bates took the top spot for kickers in Week 6, making 5 extra points (5 points), a pair of 30 yard FGs (6 points), and a pair of 40 yard FGs (8 points), totalling 19 points. Bates basically beat the Cowboys by himself. Ay caramba!

DEF: Detroit Lions

Yeah, when you shut down a team 47-9, chances are your defense had a hell of a day. Here's how scoring for team defenses goes. Regarding scoring defenses, a shutout is 10 points, giving up 1-6 points is 7 points, giving up 7-13 points is 4 points, giving up 14-20 points is 1 point, giving up 21-27 points is no points, giving up 28-34 point is a 1 point deduction, and giving up at least 35 points is a 4 point deduction. Elsewhere, sacks are 1 point, interceptions are 2 points, safeties are 2 points, fumble recoveries are 2 points, blocked kicks are 2 points, and touchdowns are 6 points. The Lions defense took the lead for team defenses in Week 6, as they had 4 sacks (4 points), 3 interceptions (6 points), 2 fumble recoveries (4 points), and gave up 9 points (4 points), totalling 18 fantasy points. The Lions finished ahead of the Buccaneers defense by just one point in Week 6.

Out of that group, the only player I had in my starting lineups in Week 6 was Chris Godwin, and he definitely helped me out. Week 6 was a very wild week in Fantasy Football, and here's to a very awesome Week 7!
