Screw "The Rock": Dwayne Should Stay In The Office
While The Rock plays like it's still the early 2000s, he's stealing time from the new generation and proving he can be the evil authority on screen. But he needs to stay in the office.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
The Rock showed up at the 2025 Elimination Chamber and hell followed him in the form of Travis Scott and surprisingly, John Cena. The Rock, or as he likes to be called these days, The Final Boss said he was coming for Cody Rhodes's soul. But he wound up with a much bigger soul to take.
In a pivotal moment in premium events, the boss got told what he could do with himself as he demanded the answer from Cody Rhodes. Conveniently, Cody wasn't alone. John Cena was there to "celebrate" their pending championship and marquee match at Wrestlemania 41. Even as two beloved heroes were to fight, it would have been an interesting affair.
Enter "The Rock"! Rock showing up with Travis Scott was anticipated. As was Cody telling "The Rock," to, "Go Fuck Yourself!" What nobody expected was the big hug John Cena gave the heroically touch champion, or the signal being given and John Cena going downstairs on his future opponent. One kick to the stones, and a beatdown later, and it was clear that John Cena's soul was going to leave The Rock's back pocket.
Like a prison inmate holding the back pocket of their new prison "daddy," John Cena turned on the 20-plus years of hustle, loyalty, and respect and became the presumptively new corporate sell-out. With more goodwill in his tank, than any wrestler turned movie star, John's days of being the king of the make-a-wish grants and his feel-good moments with the kids are over.
The Rock Stealing the Spotlight
Ever since Dwayne Johnson's return to the WWE as part of the changes and sale of WWE to the UFC, whenever he's around on screen it's interesting. His participation in Wrestlemania 40 against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins showed that he's still got it. But his character of "The Final Boss" has materialized into an authority-level villain who gets into it with fans.
He doesn't even have to perform, but he is one of the biggest stars in the world. From the day after Wrestlemania, Dwayne's occasional appearances have kept the WWE wondering. But it's his most recent appearances that could be leaving WWE's current and up-and-coming stars feeling burnt. He's tended to show up at the end of events or shows, sometimes giving ominous messages, and other times leaving fans and the world guessing what's next.
As WWE's NXT brand crowned a new champion in Oba Femi, there should have been a celebration for the up-and-coming talent. Instead, once again, "The Final Boss" appeared and took the spotlight from the younger generation. Is it his ego getting in the way, or is it slumps in ratings that they know they can cure if there's more buzz about Dwayne Johnson showing up at shows? It's probably a little bit of both.
Anything Dwayne touches is entertainment gold, and worth seeing if you're a wrestling fan. Some of his movies and appearances are some of the biggest of the past decade. From the Fast and Furious franchise as Luke Hobbs, onto a spin-off, in which he managed to get a spot secured for his cousin, to the new Jumanji movies, and movies like San Andreas and Rampage, he's built a heck of a Hollywood resume. Even the atmosphere in the arenas changes when Rock shows up.

What most people want The Rock to do is debatable, but online chatter and opinions on the actor being back aren't all favorable. Some feel that all he's doing is pumping up his overinflated ego. And others feel like he's got value to the WWE, and is potentially helping them out of a slump. It probably doesn't hurt that they're paying him a healthy eight-figure salary to be on the board.
One thing he's not doing, he's not giving back to the business. At least not in the way that most of the 90s-era wrestlers choose to, by putting over the younger talent and working with them. At least, if he was doing that, we could understand the total douchebaggery that's occurred.
The Rock should decide who he is going to be. Is he going to be the guy that is there to help the business thrive? If so, he doesn't need to be in storylines. Making announcements, putting in public appearances, and signing autographs will bring the fans to see you. If he's there feeding his ego because he's closer to 60 than 50, then dear god, stay in the office and collect your paycheck Rock.

I have to admit, it's hard seeing the Rock play the part of the villain. Perhaps he's just trying to expand his acting range. After all, the villains do tend to be the juiciest parts.
I stopped watching wrestling long ago but saw this show. well written
Nice work. Question what was the trigger for this story? You peaked my interests. :)
