Reviewing the NXT Women's Division's 1st Show After WrestleMania

A loaded Post-Mania NXT for the women's division features a grudge match and a baffling outcome

The women of NXT shined at Stand & Deliver on April 2, and after Raw had their Post-Mania show, it was NXT's turn. Two women's matches were set for Post-Mania NXT, first off, the tag title rematch from Stand & Deliver, with Toxic Attraction's Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne challenging new champions Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai. The pair, as well as NXT Women's Champion Mandy Rose, vowed to regain their titles, claiming that Wendy Choo's appearance was the only reason why they were dethroned. All the while, Dakota and Raquel referred to the defeated duo as being afraid of the new champions, and vowed to retain.

The match was hotly contested. We saw the challengers go after Raquel's bad knee. We would see Wendy Choo appear, just like she did at Stand & Deliver. However, we would also see Mandy Rose appear and take out Choo, and she would cause a distraction in her girls' favor. As a result, Gigi and Jacy regained the titles, and I (among many others) am asking the million dollar question: WHY?!

This result angers me. Dakota and Raquel reunite after months of being at each other's throats, win the tag titles to cement their reunion, then lose them back to Toxic Attraction three days later?! Someone please tell me how this makes any sense whatsoever. Dakota and Raquel are two-time champions, but their combined reign has to have lasted about 73 hours. FXX's "Every Simpsons Ever" marathon was longer than that. It doesn't help Toxic Attraction either, because this win could have fans believing that they are shoved down our throats. In addition, are there any other teams who could dethrone them? Unless Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta settle things and get back together, I don't see any other team beating Toxic Attraction.

The other women's match was weeks in the making; a pair of relative newcomers in Nikkita Lyons and Lash Legend. The whole thing started after Lash defeated Amari Miller, which was followed by Lash calling out Nikkita, with plans to outshine the fellow newcomer. Nikkita later appeared as a guest on Lash's talk show, and was on the receiving end of insults by the villainous host. As we expected, both women decided to wait until after WrestleMania Weekend to settle things, leading to this match on Post-Mania NXT.

Now, this match had the right outcome; with Nikkita victorious over the evil Lash. I would have preferred if this match actually took place at the Stand & Deliver pre-show, but at least we got it. Nikkita's amazing; I've watched her on WOW as The Lioness, and she is a phenomenal talent. Lash Legend's been a wild card, her in-ring skills have come into question recently, but I don't think there are any problems here. I do love her gimmick, though, mainly because I think WWE's Creative are fans of Wendy Williams.

Another NXT villainess who graced our screen was Tiffany Stratton, and she vented about her favorite subject as of late: Sarray. Tiffany has been recently feuding with Sarray, mainly due to Tiffany's anger over Sarray not wanting her fashion advice. Their only encounter at this point saw Tiffany victorious, but only because she attacked Sarray from behind before she could shift from her schoolgirl look to her stronger warrior persona. In addition, that win was sandwiched by a pair of losses, and when asked about them, Tiffany placed all of the blame on Sarray and loudly proclaimed that she's not a loser. Methinks that we should see a rematch between these two as early as the following week.

Speaking of Sarray, she should be booked as Mandy's next challenger, because it makes perfect sense. Think about it. Sarray was the last woman to face Mandy back when she was blonde, back before the sinister transformation. That encounter saw Mandy's face smashed, and it actually triggered Mandy's inner darkness. So in a way, we have Sarray to thank for Mandy's current demeanor, and it's only fitting that we get that match again, this time for the title.

So to recap, the only negative is a big one: Toxic Attraction being tag champs again, just three days after losing the belts. Other than that, it was quite fruitful the rest of the way.
