I don't know if fans have heard the saying that Paul is the last glory of the traditional point guard. This means Paul is the last legacy inside the traditional point guard line. Many players nowadays, especially most of the No. 1 players, have deviated from the traditional concept of playing style. The most intuitive manifestation of this is that most young guard players do not play based on experience. They rarely have a slate of organization, nimble, floating, and constantly running the floor, which is what a young guard should look like. So in stark contrast to the older generation, represented by Paul, this class of traditional point guard players, is this series of young new age guards led by Curry.

So at first, when you see this proposition, most people snicker. The question was not supposed to be comparable, Curry's multiple hard honors, are superior to Paul's. First of all, not to mention the four championship rings and a Finals Most Valuable Player thing is the unanimous MVP this kind of historical level of achievement, Paul is also unlikely to have. So, look at the strength and look at the honor, Paul is not better than Curry.

Then why do we need to put two people together to compare? The reason is simple we need to use two different times to compare the characters, from a different perspective to observe the current style of play and environment, and analyze what is different between the current players and past players. As well, as the impact of Curry and Paul on the position of a point guard.

Let's look at the big picture first. What is the purpose of a player when he is involved in the game? Many people might say glory and championships. After all, the most crucial indicators of competitive sports are your honors and team awards. Only when you get a championship can you be considered a good player. That's why countless players choose to join other teams at the end of their careers to get a championship ring. This very utilitarian mentality of the game was for a long time the political correctness of the league.

If you don't have the same mentality, it may be determined by fans or your teammates that you don't have enough belief to win a championship and that you are not a player who can give everything for a championship. Most players, including Paul, have this perception. Is there anything wrong with such a view? From the point of view of honor, there is not much problem. There's honor in championship glory and there's a face in saying it.

But Curry and the Warriors behind himself, and indeed the whole team, gave a different answer in their way. Do we play just for the championship? No! We are enjoying the process of working together. In the Warriors, the atmosphere among the players is notoriously good. Everyone doesn't just care about one achievement, we just work together and play in the way that is most comfortable for each other. Curry can make sacrifices for his teammates who are on fire, or he can choose to play on the bench for the team's tactical effectiveness and his best comeback form. Here, they never count on personal glory and so-called championships, they just want to play together and want to win together. With the addition of this atmosphere, the Warriors not only did not lose badly, but they became the hottest team. They have four championships together and are one of the strongest teams of the last decade. They have the most complete system, the most logical culture, great young guys, and veterans who still have a fighting chance. The Warriors are better than other teams in almost every aspect, and it all stems from Curry's unselfishness for the team and the overall positive team atmosphere.

I think this is actually where Curry is going to be stronger than Paul. Also not afraid to offend Paul's fans, in many cases Paul's selfishness is very heavy, including the season in which the Sun reached the finals, the team still has serious status problems. Paul wants to compete for the FMVP, and Booker hopes he can get the award. There are serious divisions within the team before they have completely defeated their opponents, so how else can they screw up to fight with their opponents? I think if the new generation of young guards or these young players can abandon the dregs of these traditional players, the NBA game may look a lot better!

One more, specific to the individual play style. Traditional holding guards, basically start organizing the offense at the top of the arc. Because of the best view at the top of the arc, all players just need to listen to the organization of the number one position and start executing the strategy. This time the players and the players do not have a mutual equal relationship, but the No. 1 player is directing his men. The tactical decisions are made by the No. 1 position, and the other players are doing the execution. The advantage of this approach is that as long as the No. 1 player is good enough individually, the team can be organized most of the time. The downside is that if something goes wrong, the No. 1 player has to take the main responsibility, and the team is prone to internal disputes.

In the Warriors, Curry's time with the ball is very small. Many times Curry handed the ball to Green and then started running the point. Is Curry not organized at all? No, he is using his running to drive the opponent's position, and his teammates follow Curry's running position. In this process, almost everyone is involved in the organization and coordination of the play. This is why we have been saying that the Warriors' style of play can be identified as true team play. Everyone is the decision maker and the executor. Seeing this, some people may ask, what if the team is in chaos and there is no core of such multiplayer decision-making? There is no need to worry. Because Curry will be back to the core in a new round of offense and defense, he can delegate his power and let everyone out together. Or he can take over the banner of command when necessary and help his teammates solve these seemingly intractable problems. Curry's own ability to punish his opponents is very strong, so you don't have to worry at all that there will be no one to resolve rival conflicts after a mess.

Having said that, you should understand that Curry and Paul are completely two extremes. One is a team first, and one is a sophisticated egoist. Some people think I want to help the team, and some people think I want to use the current team resources to move up the ladder. Two people with different starting points, different purposes, different talents, playing styles, and different results. The two men's reputation, honors, and even historical status also appeared a big gap. Is Paul strong? Very strong! At least he is the best inside the number one position. But compared to Curry, sorry, there is still a big gap in it.
