My Thoughts About Alex Bregman
My two cents about the disgraced baseball player

Spring Training is in full effect and we're that much closer to the start of the regular season. One player that the Boston Red Sox recently acquired was Alex Bregman. Yes, that Alex Bregman, also known as Breggy the Cheater. After spending many years with the Houston Astros, the disgraced player has headed out east. So what did I think about him being a member of the Red Sox? Honestly, I don't care about him. He's free to sign with whatever team he so chooses. However, in my previous stories about the Astros, your past will always follow you.
In case you aren't aware of what I'm talking about, the Houston Astros won the World Series in 2017. They were regarded as an underdog story. However, two years later, they were exposed by the Los Angeles Dodgers organization for stealing signs during the aforementioned World Series a couple of years earlier. Other teams claimed that they used other cheating tactics, such as whistling to relay signs to batters and banging on a trash can. In January 2020, Commissioner Rob Manfred released the results of an investigation conducted by Major League Baseball and they concluded that the Astros illegally used a video camera system to steal signs during their World Series run. As a result to the other aforementioned schemes, the Houston Astros were fined $5 million, gave up two draft picks (first and second round), and suspended both Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow and field manager A.J. Hinch for the entire 2020 season. They were later both relieved of their duties. Basically, the players got a slap on the wrist and didn't face any further punishments. The Astros won another World Series title in 2022, but I refuse to acknowledge them as two-time World Series Champions. As a Rangers fan, I've lost all respect for them. Hinch is now the manager of the Detroit Tigers. I'll never acknowledge him as a World Series winning manager.
Once the cheating scandal made headlines, Alex Bregman, alongside his then teammate José Altuve and Astros owner Jim Crane, held a press conference to "apologize" for their actions. Bregman said during that press conference that he hoped to "regain the trust of fans." It's a bit too late for that. Plus, their apologies to me were fake and not sincere. I didn't buy them one bit. Plus, they already broke the trust of most Astros fans and baseball fans in general. Not once did any of these three people apologized to the residents of Houston or the State of Texas. The fact that Alex Bregman had the nerve to have a piece of paper to apologize. He was asked in an interview if he had regrets of stealing signs from the Dodgers, and his response was infuriating. He stated that Major League Baseball did their report and refused to discuss the issue any further. It's another way of him saying, "We won the World Series and everyone needs to get over it." Many MLB players, such as Cody Bellinger and Aaron Judge, have since spoken out against them.
As far as Alex Bregman is concerned and being with the Red Sox, I could care less. One thing is for sure: he'll always be known as a cheater. He'll always have the Cheater label attached to him forever, just like A.J. Hinch. A wise person once said, "Once a cheater, always a cheater." I still don't forgive him or the Astros for cheating their fans out of an experience. When I first learned about the cheating scandal, I was like...

Now in 2025, I relish this once beloved team falling apart and I'm here for it. With Justin Verlander now with the San Francisco Giants, they'll always be one of the most hated teams in Major League Baseball. Their refusal to take any accountability for their actions is one of the reasons why I heavily despise the Astros.
