What attending Northwest Arkansas Naturals games is like

Fabulous baseball fashion.

I've been writing a plethora of stories related to Major League Baseball, especially during the offseason. In this story, however, I'll share what it's like attending Northwest Arkansas Naturals games. As always, make sure to like this story if you enjoyed it. Who are the Northwest Arkansas Naturals?

The Naturals are a Minor League team and the Double-A affiliate of MLB's Kansas City Royals. They play at Arvest Ballpark in Springdale, Arkansas, which has been their home since it first opened in 2008. Their name came from Arkansas' state nickname, as well as from the movie, The Natural, starring Robert Redford.

Well over 100 players have played for the Naturals and have gone on to play for different MLB teams such as Bobby Witt, Jr. and Vinnie Pasquantino (both currently play for the Kansas City Royals) and the late Yordano Ventura. Ventura, a Right Handed Pitcher, won a World Series title with the Royals in 2015. Sadly, Ventura passed away in January 2017 in a car accident in his native Dominican Republic. When you enter inside Arvest Ballpark, on your right, there's a picture of Yordano Ventura. It feels like his presence is still with us and fans who adored him. Looking at his picture makes me feel emotional, even though I'm not a Royals fan. He was a remarkable talent that was taken away from us too soon. I wonder how far his career would've gone had he not died tragically. He was 25 years old at the time of his death, but whether you're a Royals fan or not, Yordano was destined to have a long and fulfilling career after winning the aforementioned World Series title.

First Naturals Game (August 2023)

August 22, 2023 was a night that I'll never forget. Not only I attended my first Naturals game and Minor League game in general but also threw out the first pitch (shown above). I never threw out a first pitch at a Minor or Major League game before, so this opportunity was an exciting experience. Hopefully, I'll have a chance to do it again soon. After I threw out the first pitch, I got to keep the Ceremonial ball as a souvenir and also posted pictures and videos on social media. I'll have the original story of my experiences attending my first Naturals game and throwing the first pitch down below, as well as tips for throwing the first pitch. I had a great time at that game and hopefully more Naturals games are more than certain.

Current Naturals Game (June 2025)

Me with a Rangers fan.

I had an opportunity to meet a fellow Rangers fan, which was rare. He saw me earlier that evening and liked what I was wearing, specifically my jersey. I asked him if he wanted to take a photo with me and he said yes. Shown above is a picture of us posing side by side. We introduced ourselves afterwards and I thanked him for his time. This wasn't the first time I ran into a Rangers fan at Arvest Ballpark. However, this was the first time I ran into a Rangers fan at a Naturals game, so it was a great sight to see. One thing to know about attending a Naturals game is that it's so diverse. By that, I mean seeing St. Louis Cardinals fans, Rangers fans, and yes, Kansas City Royals fans, which I've seen the most. If you haven't attended a Minor League game, even if you're not a fan of a team where you're located, it's a fun and exciting experience. It's also a positive atmosphere and like I said before, there are fans from different walks of life. I've been living in Arkansas for 15 years and in the area where I currently reside for over a decade. Have I received negative looks or reactions of me wearing my Rangers gear or backpack? The answer to that is no. I actually receive more praise that jeers. It shows how loyal I am to my team, win or lose. One more piece of advice to pass along to you: learn more about a Minor League team and everything about them. Learn about the game in general. Once you attend a Minor League game, you'll want to go to more of them.
