More Thoughts About John Rocker

Last week, MLB announced that it would lift their lifetime baseball bans of the late Pete Rose and 'Shoeless' Joe Jackson, among many others. I shared my opinions about the news in my previous story about this topic, which you can read down below.

Many former players were in favor of Rose's ban being lifted, including John Rocker. I shared my thoughts about the 50-year-old's controversial comments and behavior last year. I called him out for his racist and homophobic rhetoric. The previous story will be down below for your viewing pleasure.

In a tweet posted on May 13, the disgraced ex-MLB player wrote that Pete Rose's name deserved to be in the Hall of Fame. People have a right to support Pete Rose if they so choose, but if you have read my previous story, my takes were the complete opposite.

John Rocker is not an innocent individual, either. This is the same man who disparaged the LGBTQ+ community, foreigners, among other groups of people in the now infamous and controversial 1999 Sports Illustrated interview, when at that time, he was 25 years old. After that interview went public, he received backlash and the late, great Hank Aaron was one of the people he had to apologize to. Even after that incident, he continued to make controversial remarks. He was booed at games, causing his pitching performance to suffer. Rocker has been retired for over two decades and instead of him reflecting on his awful behavior and taking the necessary steps to correct them, he raises his crassness up another level. He's the kind of person who can't seem to stay out of trouble. I checked out his X account and the posts I've seen weren't surprising to me at all. He continues to spew the same, hateful rhetoric that he has displayed in the late 90s, early 2000s.

The latest incident he was involved in was an altercation he had with Patrick Mahomes Sr., the father of Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes. This took place around the time of the Super Bowl. The fact that he went at it with the father of a Super Bowl-winning Quarterback makes him look like a fool.

John Rocker is a bully, racist, homophobic, and a Grade A asshole. These actions are the reasons why he's not in the Braves Hall of Fame. You would've thought that the years following his retirement that he would change his ways and apologize to the groups of people he offended. But no. He'll always be a controversial figure and the sad part about it is that he's proud of it and embraces it. He's the kind of individual that likes to blame others for his actions, when in reality, those vile comments and opinions were his alone and came out of his mouth. No one told him to say those things. He blames society for his problems instead of taking accountability like a man.

When people show you who they are, believe them and never look back. I honestly believe that John Rocker loves drama and seeks trouble wherever he goes. His numerous controversies will follow him forever. He has an "I don't give a fuck attitude" and thinks he's such a badass. It's difficult to feel sorry for someone who's desperately trying to stay relevant and refuses to keep up with the times. News flash: no one is even checking for him in 2025. Why people continue to support and follow him on social media is beyond me. He's your problem. All I know is that I refuse to entertain his ignorant and crude behavior.

I don't and will never apologize for calling John Rocker all of those names, because those descriptions describe him perfectly. I wouldn't be friends with someone so tone deaf and ignorant. He wants attention? On Vocal, he's getting it by me writing everything about him. I just leave him be.
