The Blue Jays head to the Fall Classic for the first time in 32 years

By Mark Wesley Pritchard Published 3 months ago 3 min read

The 2025 ALCS matchup between the Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays was full of hitting power. Plus, it was eventful and something worth watching. A few years from now, we might see this in a video compilation as among the best Postseason moments of all time.

Monday night, the Mariners and Blue Jays had World Series aspirations. It all came down to one final game. These two division winners have played exceptionally well, but in the end, Game 7 of the ALCS belonged to the Blue Jays and they've done this without one of their players, Bo Bichette. The final score was 4-3 and Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. was named ALCS MVP, which he boasted an impressive .385 batting average during the Postseason. Toronto will head to the World Series for the first time since 1993, where they have repeated as champions.

The Blue Jays have one final test ahead of them: the World Series. Game 1 of the Fall Classic against the reigning World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers will be in Toronto, starting on Friday. They're determined to spoil the Dodgers chances of winning their second consecutive title. It may not be the matchup many people wanted, but the Blue Jays have the talent and willpower to upset the defending World Series champions. Plus, Max Scherzer will go for his third World Series title at the age of 41. The future Hall of Famer and eight-time All-Star has previously won titles with the Washington Nationals (2019) and Texas Rangers (2023). Would this be the final Fall Classic appearance for Scherzer? It all depends on if the Blue Jays win it all. Is he the same pitcher as he was when he made his MLB debut? No, but he's considered among the best pitchers that have played the game. My prediction that the Blue Jays will win the World Series in six games, because they're too good of a team to be swept. As far as who my pick for World Series MVP would be, it would be Vladdy Jr. I also need to show some praise towards rookie pitcher Troy Yesavage. He had one stellar performance the other night and he'll be a crucial part of the starting rotation during the World Series and also in 2026.

As for the Mariners, their quest for their first American League pennant and World Series appearance has sadly come to an end. However, they had one hell of a season, and AL MVP candidate Cal Raleigh has had arguably one of the best seasons in his five-year MLB career. The Mariners may have fallen short of the AL Pennant and a trip to their first ever World Series, but things are looking up for them. They'll return even stronger next season. Sure, they made it to the ALCS, but that doesn't mean they won't become a playoff team once again, come 2026. They fought their hardest, but it wasn't enough. The ever-competitive American League West will be even more challenging, so don't sleep on the Mariners in 2026.

Congratulations to the Toronto Blue Jays for winning the American League Pennant!
