Fresh off his win against Jake Paul, Anthony Joshua sustained minor injuries in a fatal car collision in Nigeria. The champion seemed visibly shook and winced in photographs and video.

This could be a pivotal moment for Joshua. He narrowly escaped the clutches of death. In his lifetime he’s been a superstar boxer but all of his accolades wouldn’t be able to save him.

It was not mysticism that preserved his life. No God in the sky blessed him with another day. He just happened to be in the right place at the right time by chance. The people right next to him lost their lives.

“The passenger beside the driver and the person beside Joshua died on the spot,” noted witness Adeniyi Orojo.

Joshua might have been close to that fantasy land heaven’s door, but he still has the power of life.

All he has to do now is just assess his life and his accomplishments from his previous fights. The Lexus he rode in could’ve been his casket.

In the time he recovers from this incident, he should repair both physically and mentally. He should be able to bounce back and reenter the ring. He shouldn’t be caught up in the media crush. He should be focused on his mind and his conditioning for the round square.

Because he was behind the driver, some argue that he had been spared. This situation should elevate him, nonetheless. With time, he should be ready to be the champ still.

If there is ever a biopic of his life, this will obviously be woven into the fabric of the film.

He should be thanking the engineers behind the vehicle and the medical staff that allowed him to breathe new life. The question remains if he or the passengers who perished wore a seatbelt.

Whatever the case, the fact that everyone was not killed in this collision is a testament to greater automobile safety standards in spite of the fact the two passengers saw death.

All of the ways that Joshua could’ve been seriously injured or unalived, his escape from this scene was not a miracle or divine intervention. Rather, it was just an opportunity to see himself excelling in his career.

Without mentioning his system of faith, he should be praying to the gods of chance. In terms of how 1.19 million people die around the globe annually, he should count himself not lucky or blessed but profoundly fortunate.

To put it on the level of altruism, he was not spared because the other passengers died. He did not receive fatal or life-threatening injuries because they had been sacrificed.

The mere fact he had been slightly hurt is not a result of selflessness or unselfishness.

In fact, he didn’t commit suicide at the scene because he valued his own life and viewed his own existence as boon to his own world.

Joshua should be able to determine what he will do in the future. This event may determine what he does with his boxing life. He might just hang up his gloves and become a motivational speaker. He could go to high schools and colleges and universities and let people know how precious life is.

His abilities on the mat might take a second place behind his words of encouragement to those who have lost people to automobile accidents.

He could set up a network concerning survivors of car crashes and make it known that cars should be made even safer than they are today.

He could be an advocate for flying cars that would reduce the injury and death counts for passengers.

Whatever he does, Joshua should regain full health. His main drive should be to recuperate and make sure his mindset is as good or even better than his physique.
