The Intuition Behind Trading Clarity

Intuition, also known as gut feeling or instinct, is a form of unconscious knowledge that we all possess. It is a way of knowing that is beyond conscious reasoning and can provide us with insights that we may not be able to access through logical thinking alone.

That little voice inside your head, listen to it; more times than not, it’s guiding you in the right direction. Intuition is a very powerful tool as a trader. Think about how many times in your life that you’ve said to yourself, “I knew that was going to happen.”

You knew it because you felt it.

It is an important tool for personal growth and development, and one that should be cultivated and trusted.

Relax, it doesn’t mean you have some psychic powers; it simply means your intuition was guiding your thoughts. Now, whether you actually listen to your intuition, is an entirely different thing.

We all have the ability to see certain things before they happen. We’re not saying that we can predict the future, we’re saying that we all possess a level of intuition that is connected to something greater than ourselves.

The depth of these levels, greatly differ from person to person; as some are much more connected than others.

As it pertains to trading – consistency, conviction, and confidence all play a significant role in your intuition as a trader. The 3 C’s are like puzzle pieces that lead to the clarity of your intuition.

Think of each of the C’s as a link in a chain; they each play their part in the integrity of the chain’s strength.

The stronger each “link” is, the clearer your intuition will be throughout your trading career.

The Ah-Ha moment – that moment when you connect two things together that you hadn’t connected together before and fits nicely and solidly. That “moment” further helps form a steel framework (foundation) of understanding in your mind that you can then hang other ideas (trades) off of.

This moment brings forth a level of intuition that sheds light on the questions you may have had prior to your moment.

Your trades become clear. Your entries become clear. Your adds become clear. Your exits become clear. You reasoning behind a position and the management of that position become crystal-clear.

Now, don’t get it twisted; we’re not saying that you’ll now make money on every trade you take from here on out. Give me a break! We’re talking about the clarity of each of your trades; whether your PnL ends up green or red from the position, is completely irrelevant. The clarity from the reasoning behind your position is far more important; and that is what intuition brings to your trading success.

Think of it as trading with a blindfold on vs. taking the blindfold off; it’s night and day.

This is the evolution of your trading. There are levels in the business; and we don’t mean on the charts. Levels of clarity. Levels of knowledge. Levels of understanding; and each level holds the keys to the next.

A rules-based trading strategy, combined with crystal-clear intuition derived from experience, is a recipe for consistent success as a trader.

Crystal-clear intuition cannot be taught, it’s the result from the work you put in to achieve the level in which you desire.

Without it, you’re playing someone else’s game.
