Some thoughts on career development

Some ideas about careers,jobs

By bergerPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

I just revised the latest version of my resume and sent it to the friend who introduced me to the new job opportunity.

I am very excited about the position they sent me. Although I am working as Party B, I may be able to work as a supervisor -- it is more challenging than just managing suppliers and coordinating internal and external work now.

Along with challenges come opportunities -- opportunities to move into management roles, learn about different industries, and expand your network.

Party A needs to be deep in the industry, a lot of things are thoroughly studied, and the experience becomes a barrier. If your strengths are at the core of the company, there are great opportunities for growth.

When I was writing my resume, I was thinking about my work experience... Which problems can be solved by job-hopping and which problems cannot be solved by job-hopping?

And why they choose to change jobs.

Finally, several reasons are summarized:

1. The existing work content is too repetitive to the previous work content;

2. The existing work content has completed the utility of improving the shortcomings of the previous work experience;

3. It is difficult for existing job opportunities to be promoted quickly in the short term...

For example, what I like about my current job:

1. Approach new projects;

2. Negotiate and communicate with various parties to promote project progress;

3. Not much overtime, a fair salary, and close to work.

Here's the part I don't like:

1. Certain values in the corporate culture;

2. Some projects in charge are difficult to become key projects in the long term;

3. Ready to be replaced by someone younger;

4. Part of my work overlapped with my experience, and no qualitative improvement could be achieved in the short to medium term;

5. The possibility of promotion is very small in the short and medium term;

6. Lengthy process in the promotion of some projects...

In the new job, I once again experienced the pain points and pits of project management. At the same time, I constantly put myself in others' shoes and adjusted my communication style. At the same time, the mindset has gradually changed from the executive mindset to the project management mindset and the operational mindset -- in fact, it used to be, but in the long run, it has been worn out.

Next, I wanted to be in management -- to replicate the experience of managing suppliers to manage small teams and outsourcers. Continuously improve their management experience. At the same time, take responsibility -- you will have the motivation to do better.

My current job has some redeeming qualities... But it takes a lot of effort and endurance to get a relatively good chance, and for me, it's a little slow.

Especially when I have to compete with someone younger than me for article output and content execution... There is a complete difference between doing something 100 times and doing it 10 times with enthusiasm and interest.

My experience is in combination and the ability to play a few singles... But isn't it self-defeating to compare singles' ability with younger, less expensive, more malleable people?

So, identify your strengths and weaknesses... Consider the situation and make the best choice for you.

Look at my resume, the company is still sound... My biggest problem is that I am not confident enough and feel that I am not good enough. However, this year, I met some Party B who sounded great but were quite different and saw the differences in understanding and emphasis on the same project in different industries. I found that I was OK.

In addition, in constant contact, I found that many executive-level people in new private enterprises are much better than those in foreign enterprises, and they are also more energetic.

If you can, it is better to find a fast-growing industry, find a company that has requirements for you, and let yourself quickly iterate with the development of the industry... Otherwise, you can only wait to be iterated.

Keep learning and get out of your comfort zone.
