My Journey in Crypto Trading

From First Deals to Stable Income

By MIke DPublished 3 months ago 3 min read

Hi! My name’s Mykhailo, and I’ve been exploring the world of cryptocurrencies for over five years. My journey hasn’t been simple or straightforward. I’ve tried a little bit of everything — mining, staking, buying random coins, making mistakes, learning lessons — all while trying to understand why prices move the way they do.

It wasn’t always easy. There were nights when I couldn’t sleep, days when I wanted to quit, and moments of serious doubt. But slowly, step by step, I found a way of approaching crypto that works for me. Now, trading isn’t just a hobby — it’s part of my life.

How It All Began

Like many others, I first heard about Bitcoin in 2017. The hype was everywhere — friends, news, social media. The price had already jumped past $1000, which felt unbelievable at the time.

I started with mining. I built a small rig with six video cards and set it up in my garage. In winter, it was kind of nice — the machines kept the room warm — but in summer, it felt like a sauna. The hum of the fans, the glowing screens, the idea that I was part of something bigger… it was exciting.

But mining wasn’t really profitable, so I moved on to trading. And that’s where the real learning began.

My First Trade

I’ll never forget my first trade. I bought a small amount of Litecoin because I’d read somewhere that it was “about to rise.” A few days later, the price dropped. I remember staring at the chart, completely confused, feeling a mix of frustration and disbelief.

That was my first real encounter with the emotional side of trading. I quickly realized how easy it is to make mistakes when you act on impulse rather than understanding.

The Chaos Phase

2018 became what I now call my “chaos year.” I jumped from one coin to another, chasing quick gains. I sold in panic when prices dipped and kept switching between platforms, thinking I’d find an easier way.

The truth? The problem wasn’t the coins or the platforms — it was me. I was learning the hard way that trading isn’t about luck, it’s about patience, understanding, and self-control.

Learning the Hard Way

I started studying seriously. I read books, watched tutorials, and followed people sharing their experiences. The biggest breakthrough came when I began keeping a trading journal.

I wrote down everything — why I entered a trade, what I felt, and how it ended. After a while, I noticed a pattern: most of my losses came from emotional decisions. That lesson taught me to slow down, wait for clarity, and treat trading as a skill, not a gamble.

Gradual Progress

Over time, things started to improve. I made fewer impulsive decisions, learned to recognize familiar patterns, and understood the importance of patience. Trading stopped being a rush for quick profits — it became a way to grow and learn.

I also started exploring longer-term opportunities, paying attention to projects and coins that showed potential, always trying to balance curiosity with caution.

What I Learned

Trading taught me more than charts and numbers. It taught me discipline, patience, and resilience. I learned to accept losses as lessons rather than failures. I learned to step back, breathe, and think before acting.

Looking back, my journey in crypto isn’t about getting rich fast. It’s about learning, making mistakes, reflecting, and gradually building confidence.

I’m still learning every day, and I still make mistakes. But I’ve realized one important truth: trading is a marathon, not a sprint.

If you’re starting your own journey in crypto, don’t fear mistakes. They are part of the process. Keep learning, stay patient, and focus on understanding rather than chasing quick wins.
