What’s So 2020?
You’ll Want to Leave these Trends Behind!

As if 2020 wasn’t already drenched in enough misery, in walks puffy sleeves, high heel straps over pants and this equally unnecessary pairing of grungy boots with feminine dresses. It’s a statement, I get it and I can truly appreciate it. For decades women have been fighting to be heard, we have fought for equality and rightfully so. We continually rise from the ashes of the ancestral fires that were passed down to us. We are proud of how far we’ve come from not even being allowed to vote to being just as strong as any man. Listen I can totally understand the whole ‘I can kick your ass and do it while I’m wearing a pretty dress thing’ but can we do it in a more pleasing to the eyes kind of way...?

Ladies you are beautiful, truly- you are, but please just no. No, no and no! No to poofy sleeves, definitely no to shoe straps over pants and for the love of all that is good please no treacherous pairings of dresses and boots. Especially when there are already beautiful dresses and beautiful boots that compliment each other in existence. Not only that but we have access to so many amazing materials to create any type of clothing we want. Let’s step up our fashion game, leave these trippy trends back in 2020 from where they came!
Shoe straps over pants really does not adequately describe the entirety of the problem that was this bizarre trend. Instead of poofy sleeves some pants became puffy pant legs. A poof slightly above the strap which was almost always enclosed just above the ankle but over the pant leg. What? Exactly my point....

Face masks were the most hated item of 2020, certainly the most controversial but even they were far more fashionable than these wacky trends. Look we just have to admit we went a little nutty in 2020. Don’t get me wrong- keep getting up, dressing up and showing up. That’s more than many people could do as we dealt with the ramifications of COVID. We were isolated, stir crazy and just plum crazy at times. The disruption of daily life truly did take its toll. But let’s reign ourselves back a little as we get trendy in 2021.
We had to wear the masks so it was inevitable that we’d start decorating them. We used masks to keep us safe and to keep others safe. We used them to match our outfits. Companies made them for their employees to represent their company and make a statement that they care! We used them to make statements whether it was Black Lives Matter or Peace or Sparkly, we individualized our masks. So, even though we could do without the face rash or sheer discomfort from covering our airflow but you have to admit these were way more fashionable than these trends that we are leaving in 2020!

We’re leaving behind these seriously questionable fads. Let’s keep on smiling and keep creating and styling and try to leave 2020 and it’s trends right where they belong. Puffy sleeves- that’s so 2020, constant bickering- that’s so 2020, fear and panic- that’s so 2020. We’re leaving it all behind and embracing 2021 and we’ll be looking to find new fashion trends and new passion that never ends! We made it, we’re still here, we’re still fighting. Who says we can’t be trendy even in the midst of chaos and confusion. I’m sure we’re not done with our questionable trends but let’s say we lived and learned with these, please. Let’s get it together ladies and gents!
