Today is Little Black Dress Day! So, this day was created by the Black Heart Association and is about supporting heart health among African-American women.

Though this day was started by the BHA; it goes beyond putting on something to wear to support heart health. Founded by a three-time heart survivor; this organization aims to help prevent heart disease.

Heart Disease in Black Women

In the first place, the BHA is on a mission to help improve the health of communities of color.

Did you know that heart disease and stroke are the number 1 killer in women? In addition, heart disease is prevalent amongst black women. Some of the major factors are the following.

Family history of heart disease

High blood pressure

High cholesterol

Inactivity

Obesity
