Thrifting and I became... a Thing
After my experience, I understand the love for thrifting.

It was after a stressful day of work, and I needed a good drink and some retail therapy. This particular day, as soon as I got off, I drove to the nearest daiquiri shop. To my convience, there was a thrift shop across the street, yet a few stores down from the daiquiri shop. Now, this would be my very first time going into a thrift store. My grandma introduced me to them because for some reason she would get a kick out of "bagging" items that were "brand new" in her eyes. Sometimes I wanted to say "Lady, if it's in the thrift store, do you really think it's new?" But she loved it, and today I decided to get a taste of the thrill she gets out of thrift shopping.
At the onset, I went into the diquiri shop to get me a drink to ease my mind after a nerve-racking day at work. At once I realized I didn't want to stay out too late. As I walk out feeling amazing after that drink, I remembered I wanted to take a stroll into my grandma's world. I mean it was literally across the street, what could it hurt? When I walked inside the store everyone was really friendly, but it was the end of the day I can tell they wanted to go home. They seemed as tired as bears during hibernation. I knew I had to make this trip quick. But, knowing myself, I knew it can take a while for me to go through all these clothes, furniture pieces, and decor. To say these the pieces were hand-me downs, I can see why my grandma loved it here. Some pieces were fairly nice and they can really pass for brand new.
It's one hour until closing time and I'm intriqued by most of the pieces. Just imagine being tipsy, follicking through all the clothes like a kid in a candy shop. Mid happy-shopping, I notice there was a black escalade truck pull up with tinted windows in front of the store. The door bells at the top of the door rings and a fairly large muscular man, in a black suit drops off a black trash bag inside. The employees immediately began to put the clothes on the racks as if to say "Let's hurry up and get this over with." Knowingly if I was working there, that bag would have had to wait until the morning. But, I was grateful they did because there was one piece that caught my eye at a stroke.
THE CHANEL PIECE. I can spot Chanel anywhere, anytime, any place. And the best apart about it, it was vintage. Vintage pieces are classic, they never get old in my eyes. They are timeless pieces. This had me thinking, exactly who was in that black truck? I don't know, but I knew that Chanel piece was mine. As I examine the piece, I realize someone left a really small mesage on the shirt tag that read:
A gift to you. You are worthy of abundance.
At that very moment, I felt like the universe was on my side and I realized exactly my grandma loves to thrift shop. I grabbed the blouse faster than The Flash on his was to a mission, and left with the piece.
How did I get so lucky to run across a vintage Chanel blouse? I am not so sure but I took it as a lesson and a blessing.
LESSON:
Even in the lowest places, there are hidden gems.
BLESSING IN THE MESSAGE:
The message inside the shirt reminded me that I am worthy of everything that my heart desires. Life is a gift and in the midst of everything thats going on I have to remain good, then I will attract even better.
That was my first, and yet my best shopping experience ever at a thrift shop. :)
