Summer Wig Wear Is Suffocating—Desperate for Tips!

My Battle with Blistering Heat and Unbearable Wig Woes

By HarperPublished 7 months ago 3 min read

Sisters, who understands! The high temperature this summer is almost melting people. Walking on the street, the asphalt road seems to be steaming. But when I go out with a traditional wig, I feel like there is a small stove on my head🔥! Last week, I went to a party with my girlfriends in the hot sun. As soon as I walked to the subway station, dense beads of sweat flowed down my scalp. The wig was tightly attached to my head, stuffy and itchy. The hot and uncomfortable feeling almost made me want to tear the wig off on the spot!

I remember that party, I carefully selected a full-head long curly wig, thinking that it would surprise everyone. As a result, before I reached the destination, my hair was soaked with sweat and stuck to my neck, itchy and uncomfortable. In the restaurant, the air conditioner was turned on very high, but my scalp was still stuffy. I could only endure the discomfort and chat with my sisters, and I didn’t even feel like taking selfies. The moment I took off my wig at home, my entire scalp was red and swollen, and it felt hot to the touch. The person in the mirror looked like a "disaster scene".

I used to think that wigs could help me change my style quickly, which was super convenient. But now in summer, the heavy full-head wig not only covers my scalp tightly, but also causes a lot of small red rashes. I feel itchy but dare not scratch, for fear that scratching will cause infection. Every time I take it off, there is a layer of sticky sweat on my scalp, and the inner net of the wig is also dirty with sweat stains, which is very troublesome to clean. Sometimes, after washing and drying, it becomes greasy again after a while when I wear it out the next day. It's really frustrating!

In order to solve this problem, I have tried many ways. For example, adjust the tightness of the wig, but if it is loose, I am afraid that it will shift when walking, and if it is tight, it is still stuffy; spraying a cooling spray, it has some effect at first, but it will be too hot again after a while. I also tried to put a breathable pad in the wig, but the pad not only slides easily, but also makes the wig uneven and looks very strange. I even tried to apply anti-sweat cream on my scalp in advance, but the sticky touch made the stuffiness worse, which was simply "adding insult to injury".

Recently, I saw someone recommend human hair half wigs, saying that it is breathable, but I haven't tried it yet, so I'm a little unsure. I'm worried that it won't look natural enough, and I don't know how to choose the style and size that suits me. Has anyone used it before? Is the effect really as good as it is said? Will it be troublesome to clean and maintain it?

I sincerely ask for advice from all the sisters! How do you solve the problem of stuffiness when wearing wigs in summer? Do you have any recommendations for wig styles that are particularly breathable and good-looking? What are some tips for daily wear and care? For example, are there any particularly useful scalp cleaning products? Or is there a way to fix the wig more firmly and not stuffy? Throw your experience at me, save the children! I really don’t want to give up my beautiful wig style just because of the heat. Please share some useful methods and products with me. Thank you very much!
