In 1908, Wilsdorf registered the Rolex brand and the watch brand became Wilsdorf & Davis. In 1915, the company changed its name to Rolex Watch Company Limited, probably because the name Wilsdorf fueled anti-German prejudice in Britain during World War I. Rolex opened an office in Geneva in 1919, soon moved its headquarters to Switzerland, and adopted the French name Montres Rolex SA. Rolex, full name Montres Rolex SA, also known as (1905–15) Wilsdorf & Davis Ltd. and (1915–20) Rolex Watch Company Ltd., Swiss-made durable and luxurious watches. Early Wilsdorf & Davis watches usually had a W&D mark on the inside of the case.

However, like many so-called "early" Rolex watches, they were not actually the first to market and preceded Harwood, who patented the design in 1923 and released the first self-winding watch in 1928. On 24 December 1927, Wilsdorf launched the Rolex Oyster in the UK with a Rolex front-page advertisement in the Daily Mail. Later in 2000, Rolex rocked the watchmaking world again with the introduction of its patented Parachrome niobium-zirconium-oxygen alloy coil, which eliminates magnetic fields that can interfere with time. He invented the Rolex brand, registered it as a trademark in 1908, and went on to produce men's and stylish wristwatches.

Wilsdorf has attached a special Rolex watch (the watch is called the Deep Sea) to the Trieste side which goes down to the bottom of the Mariana Trench. The names of a range of watches in the catalog are usually "Rolex Oyster ______" or "Rolex Oyster Perpetual ______"; Other than Oyster Perpetual 26/31/34/36/39/41 and Oyster Perpetual Date 34, Rolex Oyster and Oyster Perpetual it is a generic name rather than a specific product line. The original Rolex Oyster waterproof watch was made in 1926. Rolex SA () is a luxury watch manufacturer based in Geneva, Switzerland.
