Fashionista? Nope, not really.

My fashion sense is all over the place. So much so I end up wearing the same 10 pairs of black leggings combined with a graphic tee. But that doesn’t stop me from dreaming!

Let us start with this amazing song. Whether you like the song or not...I need you to watch it long enough to see Mariah Carey’s outfit. I tried to find a high quality image of it on the webs of the internet and was unsuccessful. So here we are!

I remember wanting her brown shoes from this music video, SO BAD. My mom found me some knock offs and I thought I was THE SH*T.

I'm legit going to pull this outfit together and bring it back. Maybe it's already back? Crop top, wispy bangs, washed out denim jeans with a belt? Yep, I'm on it.

Here’s where my style goes a little wonky.

Gwen Stefani.

I LOVE her style. Well, most of it...

In one of her most recent releases, she travels back to her 90s self to recreate her looks over the years.

Now, I’m NOT a fan of this country vibe she has been mixing into her outfits. I mean, It makes sense given her relationship with Blake Shelton, I just am NOT digging it. The white crop tank with the red & blue stripes, blue pants, fishnets going up her waist, and classic red lips. I LOVE this outfit. I have no idea where I could actually wear this and not be stared at...but I LOVE IT.

Then she has the retro navy & white polka dot dress, LOVE LOVE.

The “BANANA’s” outfit, the blue hair, the plaid jacket, UGH! I love it all.

As I am researching outfits to pull together...I am realizing I am leaning more into 90s fashion more than ever. Which is hysterical to me, because I never thought of myself as liking “the 90’s”.

I was born in 1985 and while I don’t consider myself an 80s kid, since most of my youth was in the 90s, I also don’t consider myself a 90s kid. It’s like I have this false sense of identity when it comes to “where I’m from”. I want to hold onto the 80s so much because I relate to that music more than the 90s. Anway, let’s get back to fashion, shall we?

10 Things I hate About You

While this movie BARELY makes the 90s cut (released March 31, 1999), the fashion is nothing short of 90s. Some of the outfits seem so “basic” or “artsy” and I love that so much. While some of Bianca’s outfits were more preppy and oddly enough, I love them too! The polar opposite of what Kay’s outfits were and yet I feel like my style was equally represented between the two characters. See more in this video:

Something else that I find hilarious but still want another pair... Corduroy Jeans. I had this weird brown color and thought I was hot shit when I wore these pants. I was probably in middle school at this point. I tried googling them to find the right color to show you... Come on now PacSun! Why you gotta call these Mom Jeans?! Oh wait... you already know... they are at this point in my life.

PacSun “Spice Corduroy Mom jeans”

Not even gonna lie...if they weren’t out of stock, I would probably have bought them!

If you have kids or know someone with teen girls... you’ve probably heard of Brandy Melville. I have to say... I really love their collection. Again, it seems so “basic”, yet I love the simplicity. I also can’t seem to break down and buy anything for myself. Could I pull off a crop top? Sure. Do I have the confidence? That’s a big hell no. I’ll just leave it to my girls and live vicariously through them.

I’ll just mind my own business over here... and keep going back and forth between my black Victoria’s Secret/Pink leggings and my American Eagle jeans. My graphic tee’s or plain colored shirts paired with some slip on knock off Birkenstocks. Every once in awhile I’ll still wear some Vans or Taos brand sneakers, but hey. I’m just a mom with style that lives only in her imagination.
