Dreadlocks are not Masks Straps
Where has the hygiene gone?
Fashion is not all about what you wear, but how it is worn - and I believe that hair/hairstyle and basic hygiene qualifies. With 2020 in place, there has been an amazing lax in hair, hairstyle and general hygiene upkeep. Let us start with the hair.
I would love to say it's the "ladies" or it's the "men" but it seems to be an increasingly lack of caring by all parties that has my mind boggled. In the average course of a day, I will see anywhere from ten to twenty people who did not bother to brush their hair prior to throwing it up in a pony, chucking on a mask and showing up at my place of employment with a semi-touched up version of last night's make up flaking off under the eyelids. On the same token, the men do not seem to take the time to get a trim, or a haircut - even now that one can actually do that. We have men show up in suits and ties, but straggly bits of beard hanging out the corner of their face masks.
In an attempt to correct this condition, we can only do what we can do, so my girls (and boys) and myself make the effort to look our best if we must go "oot and aboot" When you are stuck at home, what else do you really have to do, than learn how to nail dip, dye each other's hair, experiment with foils, color and cuts. It may be a rhetorical question, but just because it was a rough year, it does not mean we need to look like it was a rough year.
If there is one thing I am looking forward to, for fashion "don'ts" this has got to be it! Please, shower, wear clean clothing that does not consist of three days of crusty pajamas, at least wash and brush your hair. For goodness sake, wash the old off and make an attempt to go into public like a civilized human. If you are not sure how to "upkeep" when everything is closed, play with what you have! Make a mess of it, and figure out how to fix the mess! In the long run, it will be beneficial, as one will learn new skills, and maybe find a new passion in life.
If we have to cover our faces (which we do) make it pretty, make it unique, make it YOU. Personalize every other part of what you look like and tell the world; "this pandemic is not going to keep me down!" Let the you that is you out, let them hear you roar, and for Goodness Sake..... Wash your face!
