06 ETIQUETTE YOU MUST KNOW AS A REAL GENTLEMAN

Essential Etiquette for Men

By TTMPublished 3 years ago 4 min read

Being a mannered gentleman will give you respectability. This is why you should take the time to learn how to be polite and attentive in social situations. Being polite shows that you are mature enough to handle yourself well with other people, which is necessary for your personal life as well. A mannered gentleman is an important part of being a gentleman. The term "manner" can mean different things depending on when, where, and with whom you use it. Gentleman, that's why I decided to explain the importance of etiquette. So let's look at what it means to be mannerly in different situations so that you can know how best to act in those situations.

01. Dress to Impress

Dressing well is about more than just what you wear; it's also about how you present yourself in public. If possible, try to avoid wearing something that is too tight or shows any signs of wrinkling (e.g., wrinkles around your neckline). Also make sure everything from your shoes all the way down fits properly without gaps between each part of clothing and accessories—this includes heels (no wedges), belts/purses/sunglasses, etc. You should dress to impress. especially if you are going outside because your look is really important.

02. Honor Your Commitments

One of the most important things a man can do is honor their commitments. Men tend to be more direct, which can be a good thing in some situations and not so much in others. But when it comes to honoring your word, always keep this rule in mind: if you say you will do something, then do it! If you commit to something—whether it's going out with friends or taking on new responsibilities at work—then follow through on those commitments. Honesty and integrity are crucial virtues for any man, but even more so when it comes time for relationships or business deals with other people.

03. Be Present

Being present means being there in the moment, no matter what you're doing. You can't control how long someone else is on their phone or if they're looking at their phone at all (and no one wants to be rude by asking them to look up from the screen). But you can choose to be present in your own life—even if it means not checking social media for a few hours every day.

If you're texting while driving and an accident happens, then yes, that's going to stay with you forever. But if instead of texting while driving (or doing any other distracting activity), when the time comes around again tomorrow morning and those thoughts are still fresh in your mind because they haven't been cleared away yet...then maybe those thoughts will bring up something positive instead. So gentlemen try to be on time guy.

04. Don't talk about others behind their backs

Another common courtesy is to avoid talking about others behind their backs. If you have something good to say, it's better to say it in person than to gossip about someone on the internet.

If you see someone looking down at their phone while walking down a busy street, don't point at them and say "Look at me!" instead of just making eye contact with them. Also, avoid saying anything negative about people who are present in front of you since this can be seen as rude and could make others feel uncomfortable around you too!

05. Speak up for those who can't

Do not be afraid to stand up for your beliefs. If someone is being spoken down to, it's important to speak up in their defense. This can be done by saying something like: "Excuse me, but I think what you're saying is wrong." Or "I disagree with that statement."

You should also be fair when deciding who gets the last word in an argument or disagreement between two people.

06. Hold the door

It's a simple gesture that can have a huge impact on your life, especially if you're in a hurry and don't have time to wait for someone else to open their own door. If you see an older person who appears to be struggling with walking, hold the door until they take it themselves—and then offer them your arm as needed. This is just as important to consider when opening doors for younger people too; if someone looks like they might fumble or trip over themselves while holding open the old-fashioned kind (which doesn't fit into our modern digital age), help them out instead by opening one of those fancy ones that slide open on command!

Being a mannered gentleman is all about being courteous and polite to both women and men. It's not just about being a good-looking guy, but also pleasing others around you.
