13 July 2025*, the district of *Bajaur* witnessed a historic gathering known as the *Aman Pasoon (Peace Procession)*. Thousands of residents, including tribal elders, political leaders, youth, and civil society members, converged on the *Khar-Nawagai Road* to voice their collective demand for peace and justice .This massive rally was a direct response to escalating violence in the region, notably the assassination of *Maulana Khan Zeb*, a revered peace advocate and leader of the Awami National Party (ANP), who was gunned down on *10 July 2025* while campaigning for the very march that now bore his memory

Participants carried white flags and banners inscribed with slogans like "We want peace in our area," "Peace is our life," and "Peace is our right." The atmosphere was one of solemn determination, as the community united to honor Khan Zeb's legacy and to demand an end to the lawlessness that had plagued their district

Key Demands of the Aman Pasoon:

Immediate Restoration of Peace: The foremost demand was for the government and security agencies to take decisive action to end militancy, targeted killings, extortion, and kidnappings that have disrupted daily life in Bajaur.

2. Justice for Maulana Khan Zeb: The participants called for a thorough investigation into the assassination of Maulana Khan Zeb and for those responsible to be held accountable.

3. Rejection of New Military Operations: There was a strong opposition to further military operations in the region, citing past operations that led to displacement without achieving lasting peace [3] .

4. Implementation of the National Action Plan: The rally emphasized the need for the full execution of the National Action Plan to combat terrorism and ensure the safety of citizens.

5. Protection of Constitutional Rights:Speakers highlighted the importance of safeguarding the fundamental rights of the people, including freedom from violence and the right to live in peace.

6. Economic and Social Development:The community urged for investment in the region's development to address poverty and unemployment, which are seen as contributing factors to unrest.

The Aman Pasoon was not just a protest but a powerful statement of unity from the people of Bajaur, demanding a peaceful and just society for current and future generations. The rally concluded with a collective prayer for the martyrs of recent terrorist attacks and a renewed commitment to continue their struggle for peace.

--: In their collective voice, the people of Bajaur also emphasized the importance of preserving their cultural identity and traditions in the face of increasing external pressures. They called for greater representation in national dialogues and decision-making forums to ensure their unique challenges are understood and addressed. Local elders, women, and youth expressed the urgent need for educational reforms, job creation, and healthcare access. Many demanded that state policies prioritize human dignity and not treat the region merely as a security zone. Their message was clear: sustainable peace is impossible without social justice, equity, and meaningful inclusion of the Pashtun voice.

The July 13 gathering in Bajaur was not just another protest—it was a historical moment of unity. People from all walks of life, including tribal elders, students, political activists, religious scholars, and ordinary citizens, stood side by side. Their voices echoed through the valleys with a single message: enough is enough. They no longer wish to live in fear, uncertainty, or silence.

The core demands of the gathering were clear and heartfelt. The people called for a transparent investigation into the martyrdom of Maulana Khan Zeb—a respected leader whose absence left a deep void in the region. They demanded an end to targeted killings, improved law and order, and protection from extremist elements. For years, the residents of Bajaur have suffered due to violence, neglect, and broken promises. This peaceful protest was their way of reclaiming their agency and asserting their right to live with dignity.

Youth participation stood out as a symbol of hope. With powerful slogans, poetry, and speeches, they showed the world that Bajaur is not a forgotten corner—it is a land of resilience, culture, and strength. Women also added their voices, emphasizing the need for security in daily life, education for children, and justice for victims of violence.

The Bajaur Aman Pasoon (Peace Movement) has sparked conversations across the country. It reminded everyone that true peace cannot come without justice, and true progress cannot occur without listening to the voices of the people. As the sun set over the mountains of Bajaur that day, it left behind a message written in courage: Bajaur will not be silent anymore.
