The Modern Maslow Hierarchy of Needs
The modernized theory

Maslow posited that to move up in life, tiers of needs needed to be met before an individual could essentially level up. However even he saw the fallacy in the original statement that the perception was that each need must be 100 percent satisfied before the next need could emerge and be met.
Effectually the erroneous argument would lead a lay person to suppose that in breathing, which is an automatic response, then food, water to drink, sex ,sleep, stability, and excretion could be met. The linear fallacy applies in that they are not linear and tierical. They are basic physiological functions, primal needs essentially, and occur as part of the state of being.
Clearly one must breathe to be alive, one must have food in order to live, sex while not a base need is one that is present in healthy relationships. Sleep deprivation causes the body to enter a state akin to that of alcohol intoxication unless there is the ability to function clearly in deprived state- such events as shift work and to a reasonable point can be adapted to, and if forced the body will continue to function though at a less optimal level.
These physiological needs essentially form the basis of existence. They do not require that every need be met to 100 percent capacity in order to for tier advancement. These needs are essentially coupled with the next tier of needs, those that evolve from a primate state of being.
The safety needs include- Safety from violation of ones body, secure employment in order to meet the needs for possessions, resources such as habitable living, access to medical and dental care and access to opportunities. I have a college degree- I should have as much access to things as those with a high school diploma, or even those without any. It should not matter what my career is .. if it is legal that is where the argument ends.
Rights can not be deprived because of what someone else says, or caused to happen. You can not use someone as a guinea pig and afford more rights to those that commit crime, those that have severe mental illness and those that have drug problems and ignore the ones doing the right thing. There is a reason their rights are limited. There is a reason they have the inability to make their own decisions.
My peer group is educated people with a moral compass not homeless drug addicts. I have never had my rights taken away by a judge because of my illegal actions, or because I have need to have a conservator- I have worked all my life for everything I had, and it was taken away to cover up the illegal actions by judges, law enforcement and government officials without there ever being a case under which it could be. I have been attacked by homeless, drug addicts, felons, and people who should be arrested for their behavior for no reason. I have been even the right to give a statement as a victim when I was trying to get to someone I trusted. My peer group is not the people who are looking for a way out of jail- I have never even been in one legally. You can't take something that happened because of an event and blame the person it was done to. Criminals don't deserve better than law abiding citizens. This is still a nation of laws and you have to abide by them.
Only some needs can be met 100% or we would never get anywhere. The literal interpretation would leave us in a Sim like world where we were always trying to fulfill one need 100% , a 100% of the time.
I would posit that in modernized America, just as the law is never at the speed of technology, we are ignoring some fundamental things that haven't been considered. We can actually have friendship and family when we are struggling because of someone else's behavior, we can have morality and acceptance of facts when we are struggling to meet basic needs. Just as we should not have our possessions taken from us without legal cause. We don't get to level someone down to prevent them from gaining anything at a higher tier. You do not get to prevent one from getting justice just because you make an arbitrary decision about where they are at. Things like Global Assessment Functioning Score are not to be applied by people uneducated in their use, nor does that mean we can label what we think we see without knowing what it is.
Access to justice is not dependent on socioeconomic status or the presumption of their job, nor the success of it. I have never been on probation or parole, never been convicted on anything more than a speeding ticket. I do not need to be supervised by people who have, nor should I be required to supervise them. I have never lost my rights so I should not have to prove anything. Accusation does not make you guilty, probable cause does. You do not protect felons and homeless people who make up stories, or even people who have credentials who break the law and don't follow proper procedures.
A college educated white woman should not be considered less credible than a black street thug who committed a felony. A former law enforcement officer and judicial officer should not be subject to abuse by men and women alike for because they lack formal education. I have been attacked by Mayors, Police Chiefs and ignored when trying to protect myself by police officers, EMT's and case workers while homeless men with mental health problems and facial tattoos are allowed to break the law.
The South I knew, didn't take away rights and property without due process or allow police officers to break the law and ignore pleas from the victim to provide evidence, or take away property that it did not have a right to. Law abiding citizens were treated with respect ... and not made into scapegoats and attacked by people who had not earned those rights.
Aside from that, though there are some things that everyone needs to be happy- and while not included in any tier of Maslow's Hierarchy of needs- they are requirements- friends, pizza, iphones, and accountability by other people. We can't simply say that these tiers are not important but they are in fact a bit out dated. There are things that can not be replaced- belongings, memories, and things that can not be bought- feeling safe in a home of our choosing, employment of our choosing , animals and people who matter to us.
Sadly, Georgia clearly does not have any intelligent life in it, except me.
