Through the early 2000s to now, Social Media has always been around. Whether its email, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Myspace, etc., it will continue to grow. We see what our eyes see but do we fully understand what social media can do to our human brains? There are pros and cons of social media. One pro would have to be constant communication to family, friends, and depending on work. We all like to wonder and see what we do day to day. And that is ok. It is ok to stay in contact with family and friends and watch their funny events and triumphs. Even during these pandemics, like COVID19, or any illness spreading, we rely on social media to stay in touch due to social distancing. Communication is the biggest reason for Social Media. Now, there a lot of cons of Social Media. What a lot of people don’t realize is that social media can affect us in so many ways. It does mess with our human brain and does destroy human brain cells slowly but surely. Throughout my years, I have watched and observed people through in person and online. I like to observe before jumping the gun. I consider social media, especially Facebook, a trap. What do I mean by trap? Here is a prime example. My man and I have been together for almost 6 years. I understand he doesn’t have a life like me, but he is constantly on Facebook. His eyes are glued to it. When he gets home and I ask him to spend time with me he, through my eyes, is on Facebook. It hurts me emotionally because I think he loves social media than myself. It’s ok to be on social media and check time to time but when I see him and others constantly and can’t put their phone down, then that is the problem. That is where ADDICTION COMES FROM. WHEN SOME IS ADDICTION TO MEDIA AND VIDEO GAMES AND TAKE TIME AWAY FROM IT, UNLESS IT’S WORK, THEN THEY NEED SERIOUS HELP. It’s like their brain triggers social media but leaves out everything else. It takes away that sense of knowing there are things out there other than Facebook, Twitter, etc.
Again, it is ok to communicate to family and friends and watch their hilarious life moments but in a certain time and amount. Too much look at screen and touching phone isn’t healthy for you and your brain. Technology and Social Media can rotten your brain. Statistically, if you constantly on any type of media or even watch a lot of TV then you are killing brain cells because those things are not the fundamental things in life. As humans, we need to broaden our minds by reading going to school and earn our degree and have a good job. What we do with our mind and body, plays a huge factor in living.
Now let’s talk about Social Media and being a victim and attention. Social Media can also either make us a victim or attention seeker. There is a deadly side to social media. They are predators out there seeking the prey. We must be careful how we use any form of social media and not get trapped. There are false advertisements and scammers. For example, there were people that were selling puppies and when people gave money to them they didn’t get what they paid for. There are also people that try to scam you into borrowing money and get you involved in fraud and Ponzi schemes. If someone is not careful with Social Media, they can be a victim to sexual harassment and lead up to assault. Now there is a link to social media and attention. There are a lot of women especially that try to seek attention. How they do it is revolting. They take half naked pictures of them and post it on any media. It is mind blowing how women cannot be themselves without looking like prostitutes and well fill in the blank. There is no reason for any young women and teens to expose themselves and seek attention. Again, that is falling in category attention but if it gets worse it will lead to becoming prey to predators. I know I am just 28 and a mother of two but at same time I observe and do not participate in dangerous activities and as a mother will make sure both my daughters will not fall into that monkey business. I do not even let my man look at women that do that to themselves. That is inhumane and disgusting. We need to understand that there are consequences to what we do on any form of Social Media.
My mom is addicted to Facebook and always post harsh things and people as victims. She says it is not an addiction but yes, it is, or it can be an addiction. It can ruin relationships big time. I cannot stand when people say it isn’t when it is. I hardly get on Social Media unless family or work. I will not lie I do watch funny stuff but at same I control how much and how long I watch.
Here is another big issue to let out. News Media likes to scare people period. Prime example would be COVID19 or any pandemics. They are scaring people and saying things that do not need to be said. Yes, COVID19 is spreading, but from contact and droplets. Is it treatable? No, not yet. We will get through this. We can recover from covid19. We must do our part in social distancing and less contact around people and especially WASH YOUR HANDS!! It takes time to find a treatment or vaccine for it. Any illness or disease takes time to develop a vaccination. It does not take over night. Some news tells ok stories while majority of them scare living poo out of people. Another way is media is saying to stock up on food. It is not the apocalypse. People need to be reasonable when it comes to shopping. Basically, it is a mind game with the media. They want to put people in a state of fear and control. We need to go off facts and truth does not fear and indoctrination. It’s why half of people in general are scared of doing things because they let media get to them.
We can get through anything if we do not let no one control or fear us. We can do our part to wash hands, social distancing, and so much more. I like to state the facts and truth and not feed people Boulogne. That is why I am sharing this and other stories to let people know it is OK but also know the truth. Also, I’d like to be imaginative and share creative stories. In times like this, we need to read stories and keep our mind busy. Let the bad out and let the good into the human soul. Not everyone will be receptacle but some will.
Remember, social media is a "Silent Killer". People don't realize but it is Mentally, Physically, and Emotionally. How we deal with and how much we take it can either make us or break it. Human anatomy and physiology of the body is not the only lead cause of death. Social Media is also a link to mental health or breakdown and it can also affect the human body. Here is another example, when Carrie Fisher died, her Mother, Debbie Reynolds died later due to broken heart syndrome. Yes it real. It affects your mind and heart at same time. It is sad to know that they both passed away. Both amazing and wonderful icons and people.
